He used to co-head ICM’s motion picture lit department until 2008 when Nicole Clemens was put in sole charge. The agency is working to “transition” his clients Len Wiseman, Stephen Moyer, Steven Seagal and Ben Barnes, which means ICM is hoping to keep all of them even though he’ll be gone. Word is Nick Reed will try to become a producer.
Editor-in-Chief Nikki Finke - tip her here.

I like Nick. He’ll land on his feet. He knows this biz inside and out and was always a gentleman.
Nick Reed was the Matt Tolmach of agents. He’ll have to work really hard to be a producer… in other words he’ll be starving..
I always found Nick to be a professional and a nice guy. I wish him the best and I hope he does well in his new venture.
Nick was a good agent, but incredibly arrogant. Humility is crucial. He can now resume his acting career at the ripe young age of 57 !
Doesn’t make sense as usual. ICM has plenty of useless agents who do nothing, and they had one that was smart, knew what he was doing, was nice and was making deals and he’s the one to go…
Nick is a good guy – insane, but then again I’ve never met an agent who isn’t in some way or another – but he took me on when nobody else would give me the time of day and helped me build my career and for that I will always be grateful. Hope he lands on his feet which knowing Nick he will.
OH MY GOD!
I found Nick to be a pretty useless agent when he repped me, which is why I left. I’m not surprised he’s been shown the door.
I can’t get over these plants above.
Ho ho ho.
As a producer, no
Dough Dough Dough
True Story
– Nick’s recently Oscar Nominated Client asks me to call him based on a project that he wanted to do.
– BTW, it was a Hong Kong remake idea at the time when that was all the rage.
– Never calls back, even though I indicated it was per his client.
– Finally I happen to be at ICM on business and drop by.
– He’s at his famous upright desk and says “so-and-so, so-and-so , so-and-so calls a few times all I could think of was who the fuck is so-and-so.”
– His A-List client left him not too long after.
Everyone has a positive and negative story about everyone in Hollywood but sorry folks to me this guy was a total a-hole.
Smiled when I read he was fired.
Hate to break it to you but when an Oscar-nominated client says, “Hey, sure, I love the idea call my agent and set it up.”, he is giving you the brush off. If it was that important to him he’d call his agent about it himself and set up a meeting where all of you could sit down. So either this story is made up or your Oscar friend was just jerking you around.
That is so true.
Your miserable…sorry. Rejection hurts and you took it personal.
I’m betting there’s more to this story than meets the eye. He was one of the few guys left in that department that consistently brought in money for the agency and had a good list – Len Wiseman, Paul W.S. Anderson, Harald Zwart, (and also repped Ben Barnes and Stephen Moyer for talent.)
Len Weisman was nurtured by alot of people, Nick did not find him or make him. Paul was made by Ken Kamins for the most part, his former agent now manager. The other guys on this list sure are decent, but, no one cares about Prince Caspian and Moyer is not A list yet. So what you have is a guy who was smart but alienated some of his larger clients along the way — Nick had Jay Roach at one point post-Meet The Parents. All I can say is that the guy really might have been a great dealmaker, but, in a lit market where assignments or nil and the town sells 52 scripts a year across most companies, its increasingly hard to make it even with great clients. What’s left after that, whether or not people like you and the new Broder guard apparently did not. Same as Sher who D$#%ed them over when he was a junior agent at Broder, same as Dan R. who left as quickly as he could when that ink was dry on that deal.
Nick is the best. Good luck!
Nick is a total fraud. Everyone at icm hated him. He stole clients internally and was way overpaid and from what I hear he was never in the office. they all hated him. He was a terrible agent with terrible ideas. He got lucky and inherited a few good clients. He stole jay roach from doug mclaren and len wiseman was mason novick. Paul anderson was ken kamins. Clive barker was ben smith. He tried to go up against robert neuwman and failed. But he was perfect for icm aka ‘I’ll- call- myself’ and cut everyone out.
Loved Nick. Has been a great agent for me. Stood by me from day one.
nick is a bad guy. he doesnt have enough good will to be a producer. it will be a cold winter for mr. reed.
I’ve known Nick since we were assistants and friends at ICM. I brought him a client no one wanted to touch and he single-handedly turned that writer into top talent. When I was assembling a database that required ICM input, he argued the case internally and got me through the door. He’s made calls on my behalf when I’ve been out of work. He’s asked for absolutely nothing in return. Ever.
As far as I’m concerned, Nick is hard-working, loyal and a good dad to his kids. I wish him all the best because he deserves it. I’m also confident he’ll land on his feet because he’s invariably charming. I regret some are eager to rip into him when he’s down. “Smiled when he was fired” –??? Seriously? That says more about you than it does about Nick Reed.
Nick is an honorable man, knew him from back in the day when we were both in the mailroom and floating assistants. sad to hear about ICM sacking him, especially because I just recieved word from a major publisher who wants to republish my book. I wanted him to negotiate the deal for me but, after flying all the way from Japan to LA, I rang ICM only to hear he’s no longer there. If anyone knows of his whereabouts please let me know. I do wish him all the best.
Just five years ago, an article about Reed listed his clients as:
MacLaren’s clients include such directors as Rob Marshall (“Chicago”), Jay Roach (“Meet the Fockers”), Gurinder Chadha (“Bend It Like Beckham”) and Adrian Lyne (“Unfaithful”) and such writers as Doug Wright (“I Am My Own Wife”), Keir Pearson (“Hotel Rwanda”), Peter Morgan (“Last King of Scotland”), Brandon Boyce (“Wicker Park”) and Ted Tally (“The Silence of the Lambs”). MacLaren also works closely with Richard Gere, a longtime ICM client.
None of these were listed as his clients when they announced his leaving of ICM. Few of the clients listed in his leaving are as big a deal as these. No wonder he left. Mojo on the wane.
nick reed is a hard worker who is gooing to do amazing hes a great agent and a really good guy.
when one is cruel to others and one shows absolutely no mercy, the universe has a way of repaying that person with their own evil will. it looks like karma has finally hit nick reed where it hurts …but he is so psychotic that I’m certain he’s oblivious.
What is wrong with you? You sound like a psychotic ex girlfriend. Get real!
He is great at his craft and is a good MAN ESPECIALLY TO THOSE WHO ARE MADE OF GOODNESS.
I AM MADE OF GOODNESS!! He’s my boyfriend now you psychotic girlfriend!
Hey Easy Work! I’m not the psychotic ex girlfriend but I do know that this guy is NOT what he seems. You, on the other hand, sound like a current girlfriend! So I will try to be nicer next time… take care!
This guy is the British Mel Gibson.
Nick Reed rocks. One of the best agents at ICM–super nice guy, too. He’ll make a great producer. As an assistant, he taught me how to make deals happen in this crazy business. And he prefers his tea with milk. Cheers!
Nick Reed is COMPASSIONATE & is one of the most innovative thinkers that I’ve ever met. He loves his kids, is a great Father, and is very good to his friends.
Everyone has their faults and it sounds like there’s just a bunch of jealous haters commenting.
Nick is in the top percent of show biz people in L.A. Respect him for paying his dues. He will have a great life & career working on projects that effect the world in a positive way.
Nick is amazing and amazing at his craft! It’s a tough cut throat business, seems like many are so full of anger and resentment.
Get over it people… it is easy to point out faults of others especially when the finger points out and not inward.
His heart is big and his will is strong. May all that is good reach you in great abundances!
If he did not like a client’s project he would tell the indie department to lie to the client and tell then that there were trying to put things together.
Then he would tell the indie department to NOT really do anything just pay lip service to the client.
Nick Reed was a total idiot and not honorable at all.
He was fired for very good reasons.
Oh and Paul Anderson came back to ICM so nice to keep someone you people think was his client. Idiots.
