Paramount and MTV Films announced today that they’ve greenlit the 3rd installment of JACKASS in “eye-popping 3D” for release on October 15, 2010. It begins shooting in late January with Dickhouse Production’s Jeff Tremaine directing yet again and producing alongside Spike Jonze and Johnny Knoxville. Said the star in the statement, “We’re going to take the same 3D technology James Cameron used in AVATAR and stick it up Steve O’s butt. We’re taking stupid to a whole new dimension.” (His mother must be so proud…)
I love how the studio announcement boasts about how foul the franchise is. It pointed out that 2002’s Jackass: The Movie earned more than more than $64 million and was heralded as “a disgusting, repulsive, grotesque spectacle, but also hilarious and provocative. God help me, thumbs up” by critic Richard Roeper. 2006 Jackass: Number Two earned over $72 million and was described by The New York Times as being “debased, infantile and reckless in the extreme, this compendium of body bravado and malfunction makes for some of the most fearless, liberated and cathartic comedy in modern movies”.

Years ago I was sent a tape of MTV “Jackass” episodes prior to release of “The Movie.” Not too far into it, Mr. Knoxville referred to some stunt or the other as one “for the stars and bars,” whereupon I stopped the video and lost all interest in the shenanigans of anybody referring with obvious, unguarded, fondness to the Confederacy, specifically its flag.
And I assume we can also look forward to the return of good ol’ fashioned XXX in theatres, in eye-popping 3D?
What is the average age of people posting on here? 65+? Come on. Jackass in 3D. Hilarious!

The Jackass movies are pretty stupid. But, i’ve watched them at home as mindless entertainment.
In one of the stunts Johnny could have gotten seriously hurt. He was supposed to stradle a rocket sort of like the Air Force Colonel did in Dr. Strangelove. Except, instead of the rocket being dropped it was supposed to be launched from the ground with Johnny riding it like a bull. There was a malfunction and it imploded with a piece of metal shooting out the rocket like some shrapnel. Fortunately for Johnny it shot out the side of the rocket and not the top where he was hanging on. If it had shot out the top he would be dead. FOR REALS. I wouldn’t be surprised if this time around something bad happened. Just saying. You push your luck too far and well….
I would rather see 100 Jackass movies than 1 friggin’ Transformers movie.
At least I know in these movies I am guaranteed to laugh. Yeah, call me juvenile or whatever but tell me the last scripted movie that was actually funny on a pure guttural level. Lebowski?

You’ve been suckered. That’s exactly what the Dickhouse crew is trying to get out of you. A reaction. They don’t care if you laugh your arse off or if you shut the TV off in disgust. As long as they’re getting a rise out of you, then it’s effective.
Personally, I do get a kick out of their antics MOST of the time. I have yet to view Number Two as someone takes a “beer enema”. That’s the only portion that has hit the big screen I can’t take, but that’s more because I have an aversion to the scatalogical rather than protesting it.
Seriously, that’s what’s wrong with people today. Nobody can take a joke anymore. Sure, Knoxville and company go to the extreme to do it, but maybe that’s what needs to happen in order to elicit any sort of laughter. It may be uncomfortable, but at least you’re doing it, right?
Add Tom Green, Yahoo Serious, and Pauly Shore and you’ve got a critical mass. Oh, and have Wes Anderson direct. Yesssss!

i dont care what anyone says! jackass is hilarious-i have never laughed so much! its disgusting but it is funny as hell! these films give me so much to laugh and smile about! im a girl and i shouldnt find it funny but i do! so sue me! cant wait for it in 3D-im in love with the jackass films! Jackass has always been made in 1D…no matter the number before the D it will always be one.
I heard there was already a Jackass 3 in america that didnt make it to uk shores… but if theyre going all out to do a 3d movie, then hats off to them i cant wait!!!
