Today I like the People’s Choices on CBS 2.
Is it just me or just shows what a joke the NAACP awards are when NO one (other than Tillman) gets a nomination for Notorious???? I mean Angela? Jamal was great as Biggie. Derek Luke and even Anthony Mackie should have gotten nominations over people in 2012???? Please…no disrespect to those two actors from 2012 but since when is ANYONE ever recognized for acting in a Roland Emmerich film…and now we know why Tyler Perry donated 1 million dollars to the NAACP pre-nomination period…
In a fair world this would be the winning slate in my view.
What do y’all think?
(I’m not too familiar with how the NAACP picks winners, but I hope they can be, um, color blind and fair, refreshingly daring and unpredictable in their choices — unlike the Academy)
Outstanding Motion Picture — The Blind Side
Outstanding Actor in a Motion Picture — Quinton Aaron
Outstanding Actress in a Motion Picture– Gabourey Sidibe
Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture — Anthony Mackie
Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture — Alfre Woodard
Outstanding Independent Motion Picture — Amreeka or Precious (toss up)
Outstanding Foreign Motion Picture — Sin Nombre
Outstanding Documentary (Theatrical or Television) — Good Hair or Crude (toss up)
Outstanding TV Comedy Series — Glee
Outstanding Writing in a Motion Picture (Theatrical or Television) — The Blind Side
In no world does Glee deserve an award from the NAACP; all the characters of color are stereotypical set pieces with no effect on the overall plot.
Come on, “The Real Housewives of Atlanta”! Is this real?! Have a great day people.
Am I the only person who finds the NAACP IMAGE AWARD NOMINATIONS a bit ridiculous?
SANDRA BULLOCK — best actress? (white)
MARIAH CAREY — best supporting actress? (Irish, hispanic)
ADAM RODRIGUEZ — best supporting actor? (hispanic)
Doesn’t the NAACP stand for — National Association for the Advancement of Colored People?
I happen to be 1/2 white, 1/2 Native american, but I think this is just wrong. If they can nominate Sandra Bullock then shouldn’t any white actor in a movie with colored people be a possible nomination??
Additionally am I the only one who thinks it’s absurd that the NAACP nominated (2) actors who don’t appear onscreen? One for the cartoon — Princess & the Frog and Zoe Saldana for Avatar?
You’re telling me that out of all the performances by black actresses in the last year — no one who appeared on camera deserved a nomination above voice work??
Really? Really?
And I agree that the noms for 2012 are ridiculous. Same for (3) Best Supporting Actress noms for one film.
I think what these nomimations have shown is that the NAACP is for sale and that they will do anything to have eyeballs on the screen when they broadcast. So did Fox get a say in who the nominees were?
I’ll bet Sandra Bullock’s getting her speech ready…
