be proud kimmel its the first time little old me paid any attention to you
Jimmy Kimmel is the Most Unfunny Man in late night (next is Jimmy Fallon). He needs to go out to pasture with his dumbwitted sidekicks, Giermo and Uncle Frank. ABC ought to go after Conan or develop a late show with Wendy Liebman or Tracey Ullman. We need more female comedians on the air!
This is hysterically funny! Almost up there with Dave’s “Big Jaw Leno” discussion during his desk segment on last night’s show. I don’t know, but it would appear that Jay Leno is rapidly losing support and “friends.”
Strange, but I like this better than Jimmy’s usual monologue.
That was actually pretty funny!!
Sure that’s not Bill Clinton?
Jesus Christ. We can only pray that Jimmy Kimmel goes away. This guy is simple put…just some dude. He’s not a comic, not a host who is smart enough to ask good questions, not good looking. I guess you could say he’s lucky.
Why is he picking on Jay Leno. Leno is still one of the best comics ever. He outworks everyone, Jimmy. And he’s succeeded beyond everyone. So why not like him for that? You’re in the same game and are a non-entity. Stop kissing up to everyone who everyone else kisses up to. In fact, please, step down Jimmy Kimmel even though nobody would care anyway.
This is great news for NBC. If Leno bolts, they can just get Kimmel dressed as Leno to host The Tonight Show.
Who knew that Jimmy KImmel could be funny without Sarah Silverman? Good job, Jimmy. Thanks for sticking up for Conan and the Tonight Show. You might finally have found your voice.
Sad and unfunny. He literally cannot generate his own comedy. This guy should’ve been canceled after having nothing creatively to do with that Matt Damon video (it was presented to him as a surprise from Sarah Silverman).
He is the luckiest motherfucker on TV. Zero talent. Anyone can learn to read off a teleprompter.
that was an awful impression…since when does Leno have a lisp?
Just awful. I thought it might just be a 20 second bit but it went on all through the monologue and into the night. It might have been mildly amusing if Jimmy could have at least done a decent impression of Leno, but he couldn’t. Just awful. Whoever talked him into doing this awful piece of comedy should be fired, even Jimmy if it was his idea. The makeup was also awful. Stupid awful concept. Just awful.
P.S. How did Kimmel ever get a latenight show? He has the personality of a fake chin.
Kimmel got the show because in taped bits he’s often VERY funny. Kimmel is not a stand-up guy and it shows (only Craig Ferguson who was a stand up guy is really funny just telling jokes). Kimmel really got his big break doing prepared bits on morning drive time on KROQ-FM Los Angeles. He then sequed into Comedy Centrals “the Man Show” billing itself as the anti-Oprah, some of his taped bits (such as he and Adam Carolla dressed as pilots roaming an airport pretending to be drunk) were hilarious. His bits on the Kimmel Show where he tapes (the Richard Simmons bit, his stuff with little kids) can be priceless. He can get in jokes while interviewing guests.
But yeah, his stand up and tell jokes is pretty bad. Not funny, mostly.
He’s still better than Letterman, who basically recycles Ernie Kovacs stuff from 1954 or so, and is visibly bored by his gig excepting the money and fame and interns.
Conan can be inspired 10% of the time with taped bits (he’s an ex-writer on the Simpsons) but wastes time with schtick instead of jokes. Jay Leno is a stand-up veteran, but his ability to weed out the bad jokes has been gone for ten years or more. He works very blue (cheap shortcut).
Ferguson is very manic, full of energy, is the best joke-teller and can deep-six the unfunny jokes from his writing staff (which seems to be the best).
Kimmel WILL take risks the others will not. He tried the “guest-host for a week” where some celeb would be on for a week to “co-host” and has often had bizarre stuff like a kid rapper sitting on Pamela Anderson’s lap, falling asleep (kid was all of six). Doing the entire show as Leno was a risk. Kimmel used to walk into the studio from outside, stopped as he got hassled, a few other stuff that was unusual. His stuff with Uncle Frank, Cousin Sal, and Guillermo is not funny. But he consistently does take risks.
Such humorless arrogance. Don’t you first need to be a popular show to then be qualified to riff on other shows? Does anyone watch Kimmel? Does he know how many employees of that show (And Conan) may end up losing their jobs?
Poor taste and poorly executed.
He not only came out as Leno, he did the entire show as Leno; it was beyond brilliant!
Another hack on hack hate crime…
This was hilarious… especially Cleto doing the Kevin Eubanks schtick. Brilliant.
Wow. Leno pissed is actually almost funny. Conan has always been funny. Now he’s near extinction as the Tonight Show host, he’s funny *and* poignant. And now this. Kimmel finally doing something that’s nearly edgy and even slightly amusing.
NBC should fuck up royally more often. It’s good for comedy. Even if they have to lose hundreds-of-millions of dollars to accomplish the task.
Does anyone else think that this is excellent publicity for NBC?
Here we have, all the majors advertising for the rival network… “Oh man, look at what happened on NBC last night!”
In my (perhaps shallow) opinion, NBC has never had it so good.
He did the whole show as Leno!?
Jesus,Mary,and Joseph! Yikes!
Oh, the humanity!
Joe everyman and any guy with a pair of balls that works for a living finds Jimmy at least amusing if not funny. Then again most Hollywood types are the ones helping bring us turd on TV and in films, so I can see why no one gets it.
Jimmy would benefit from a true system that measures actual viewing patterns. Who has ever seen one of the Nielsen boxes?
