I haven’t seen “Wall Street” but after seeing this trailer for the sequel, I find the time difference/cultural shift in greed fascinating. I’m on board now!
They couldn’t even piece together a minute and a half of this movie that looks good?
Wow, thats gotta be the cheesiest trailer Ive ever seen
FAIL.
I don’t think people realize how well this movie is going to do. This, in it’s own special way, is going to be an event movie. Parents who are Douglas’s age are going to see it, “kids” who are in their 30′s are going to see it because of the first one, and smart teens are going to see it because of shia/carrie. Whether it’s people loving Wall Street or people hating it, they’re going to watch, and *in* the theaters. They’re going to root for Gekko and root against him at the same time. It’s awesome. The music here is silly, but whatever.
Love Douglas in this; hate LaPoof. Why must he be forced down our throats as The Next Big Thing?
This might be the shot in the arm Douglas needs to reenergize his career. Anybody who caught Beyond a Reasonable Doubt knows he can’t sink any lower.
Oliver Stone is a brilliant filmmaker and I am seriously excited about his take on the modern version of greed. While this trailer is relatively unexciting, I think it’s just about creating awareness of the movie. But there’s nothing in the trailer to make me believe it will or won’t rock. This movie is near the top of my must see list for 2010.
Love the opening with the “one cellphone” line. Boy, has tech changed since then.
Not 100% with the “Greed is good. Now it’s legal” line. Doesn’t sound right. It’s not that it’s legal, but appears to transcend any laws. Maybe “Now, not only is it legal, it has the power to transcend or bend any laws.”
Looking forward to seeing.
Nice looking trailer
Douglas is a superb actor – looks like another good film.
Looks interesting – I fear another Oliver Stone abortion though.
I think this film will put me to sleep.
does anyone think that it looks like Gekko is soliciting Shia for sex in this trailer. “Call me Gordon” hmmm?
I won’t lie and say that this trailer doesn’t make the movie look awesome.
The script…however, says otherwise.
And what is it that the script says? Which draft did you read?
Not entirely sure the average person really cares to see a film about the uber-wealth generated by very questionable wall street suits, even if MD is reprising his shadey role from 10,000 year ago. Just sayin’…
> his shadey role from 10,000 year ago. Just sayin’…
So 23 years is the same as 10,000 to you. Are you still in elementary school? Just sayin’…
Ouch Bob, that really stung. OK, genius, how many people under the age of 24 even know who MD is?
i do and i’m 15
why make a good movie that is much anticipated and then put a little twerp like Shia whatever in it? A media creation if ever there was one. A bastard offspring of some high powered agent and a couple of drunken publicists who decided one drug-inspired evening that they were going to create a star one night out of nothing and see if the Public would chomp down on it.
Goes to show. An unusual name is helpful and arrests attention for the requisite 2 seconds necessary to spark ‘curiosity’.
SWEEEEEEEEEEEET!
Now, that is a good trailer. Kind of like what Color of Money was to The Hustler…
i loved the first movie and am excited to see this one! i only wish you could have somehow had charlie sheen in it. will GG get his revenge or will he get over greedy again and end up back in the clinker?
fabulous. “one gold money clip… with no money in it…”
yeah…I was thinking “No shit captain obvious”, that whole scene was written just to show that old ass phone – LAME.
now Greed is legal
kinda like that gas marketing job i used to have
cant wait for this movie
Re: Jay Leno & Brian Connan fiasco
It’s not because I like Brian less as a person. I had seen
his involement in a humanitarian aspect in a documentary film.
He is a good and caring human being. But that slot of time of
” The Tonight Show ” is a perfect match for my age and the style of comedy that Jay offers. Since I came to this country in 1966 I had always watched late shows. When Jay took over the show from
Johnny Carson, I became his faithful viewer. My husband couldn’t
understand how I could stay up all night and still could go to work
all bright and bushy tail the following day. When Jay’s time was changed, my whole evening was ruined. I could’nt watch his show as my chores and responsibilities around the house do not allow me to
be free at 10:00 PM. I have always enjoyed Jay’s style and his
humor. Conan is definitely for the young and he should be able to
find a good fit for his style. I am so elated that Jay will be back where he belongs. Connan is crying all the way to the bank
and for that I am happy for him. he can continue to do good for
others and am sure with his talent he can find another gig and Jay can also continue to move on to whatever opportunities are set before him. I send them both my best wishes and hope past is past and let’s go on with the show.
Looking forward to this. The script was terrific.
surely you jest. Shia’s Jacob character isn’t half as interesting or morally ambiguous as Bud Fox thus taking the conflict out of the movie. That’s why Oliver had to rewrite some of it, some of the known changes being Mulligan’s character now working in NYC instead of Washington DC and the addition of Sarandon as Jacob’s mother.
Of course, the idea that someone of Gordon Gekko’s money/power would get 20+ years for white collar crimes is amusing, but someone should tell them that a shot of Shia on a motorcycle is laughable, and not in a good way.
Where have you been? White Collar criminals are getting hefty sentences these days my friend.
“These days”, but the man Gecko was modeled after (Michael Milken, who was found guilty of far greater crimes than Gecko would have been) got seven years and did 22 months. The idea that Gecko would have done 23 years is ridiculous, as is the idea that he would be penniless at the end of his stint. And I guess Gecko fathered a daughter during his stint in prison, as there was no such character in “Wall Street”.
And there’s another thing about this movie that taints the original: greed must not really be that good, because its the driving motivator behind the production of this LeBouftastic crapfest.

==========================================
@buddhabob, Shia grew up in a very poor family, and after his father was arrested he had to work to sustain the family. He had no one in the businesses and got where he is by himself, people on internet may hate all they want, but he is not a privileged kid that got into acting because daddy was a hot producer. If you are gonna hate, at least get your facts straight.
Shia’s obtuse publicist, please work on your reading comprehension. When Buddhabob’s says that Mutt is the “bastard offspring” of talent rep/publicist ilk, he is being figurative, you motard. Buddha’s explanation is plausible, b/c Shia hasn’t ascended due to talent.
