Wes Anderson accepted his special achievement award for FANTASTIC MR. FOX from the National Board of Review in character – via a stop-motion animated vignette. He then came onstage to thank them in person.

Did Anderson echo his signing of the “Free Roman Polanski” petition to free Roman Polanski?
Just asking — a guy directing a “family film” wants Polanski freed for raping a 13 year old.
That’s Hollywood — rotten to the core. This is why “no one knows anything.” They are so decadent and corrupt they think raping a 13 year old is like a parking ticket (and for them, it probably is).
If you can’t separate the art from their personal life, then you’re going to keep on being disappointed in life. This acceptance video is adorable.
This is super cute
I was looking forward to watching Fantastic Mr. Fox. Unfortunately, I was fantastically disappointed.
Good one, Terry
No one thinks raping a 13 year old is like receiving a parking ticket. Don’t compete with others and don’t judge others. You’ll have a very happy life
Well done. I’ve got to applaud all the folks behind today’s family films. Nemo, Toy Story, The Incredibles, Ice Age,….(I’m blanking but there are many others) and this one. Big improvement from when I was growing up. I enjoy watching with the kids. Thanks.
was that guy who talked shit about him thanked in the credits?
just checking.
and to the guy with the polanski thing, i agree and yet i’m irritated with your jabber
to “Terry”
You’re only cheating yourself in spades by making short shrift of ” The Fantastic Mr. Fox” based on this little, acceptance ditty. The film is magical & completely inspired, which is more than I can say for the woeful, mo-cap mediocrity of “A Christmas Carol” & et al.
It may be old school in its approach but, it has a vibrancy, entirely absent in most of the other animated dreck of late.
It’s your loss!
I thought comments “off topic” would not be printed? What does Mr. Anderson’s witty and imaginative – and practical – acceptance speech have to do his opinions on the justice system?
It’s the Ezra Pound issue yet again;Pound produced a massive poetic symphony while caged in a Gitmolike cage like an animal. His political views were taken – by many – as justification for demeaning or neglecting his poetic work.
I don’t think the posts mentioning Mr. Anderson’s ideas or actions as a citizen are appropriate when discussing esthetics.
Is anyone willing to talk about whether or not Wes Anderson actually directed the animation of this film? I personally think he is a great filmmaker, but I was surprised to hear that he directed sequences via email. That would be like calling Jeffery Katzenberg the director of Chicken Run.
Not trying to throw any support to Polanski, but the girl victim is one of the people behind the petition, and she has been asking for his release for a while in order to bring the case to a close so she can get on with her life…
She is trying to move on, what business is it of yours?
