UPDATES Actor Jason Bateman Splits From UTA
Jason Bateman left UTA board member Tracey Jacobs in early January after she’d repped him for nearly 25 years. (With a couple of breaks in between…) Now others tell me he just signed with CAA.
CAA also signed Eli Craig, a writer/director of the horror comedy that premiered at Sundance, Tucker And Dale Versus Evil. Also Tom Anderson, who’s the exec producer of My Family which is the #1 sitcom on the BBC.
Others tell me CAA agents Andy Elkin and Jeff Jacobs signed ESPN sports analyst & 1991 Heisman Trophy winner Desmond Howard.

Bateman’s had one hit (and he was a supporting player in it) so I have no idea why he keeps getting cast in seemingly every second film produced in Hollywood. Sick of the sight of him. He’s got about as much talent as my fungus infested toenail and looks about as good.
Bateman is a terrific and undervalued actor.
Jason has been hot for the past couple of years. I’m actually kind of surprised that he didn’t get scooped up by them earlier. He’s actually one film away from truly establishing himself as a major player in the comedic film field.

Luke, you must be a moron and/or bitter character actor who Bateman always beats out b/c he always bring something interesting to the party. I have, by no means, seen half of what he’s been in (never even watched Arrested Development which EVERYone tells me I have to get) but he was terrific in State of Play, ditto The Kingdom – really terrific. And he was very good and real in Juno; wry and hilarious in Up In The Air… He may never “explode” or be the leading man, but a career of cool characters is way better than sitting about bitching on other actors who WORK.

This guy needs a personal manager. Not a management company. He has an agency for that. He does not need to be part of a list and with the big agency he will always be part of a big list. Get a one man shop as a manager so that a lot is on the line and that manager can drive home the agency. Sound good, Bateman? Lemme know.
