This may be welcome news to people like me who have Jennifer Aniston fatigue. After receiving Golden Globe, Emmy, and SAG nominations for her title role in the canceled ABC sitcom Samantha, Who?, Christina Applegate is segueing once again from TV to film. She’s about to close a deal to join Owen Wilson, Jason Sudeikis, and Jenna Fischer in Hall Pass, the Farrelly brothers comedy for New Line. Applegate will play one of the wives who give a hall pass to their husbands allowing them to have sex with another woman without consequence. Written by Bobby Farrelly, Kevin Barnett, Peter Farrelly and Peter Jones, the pic began shooting this week in Atlanta. The film is being produced by Bobby Farrelly, Bradley Thomas, and Peter Farrelly with Peter Farrelly directing. Applegate also stars alongside Drew Barrymore, Justin Long, and Charlie Day in the upcoming comedy Going The Distance, also for New Line. She is repped by Management 360, CAA, and lawyer Steve Warren.

this is great news! Applegate was terrific in THE SWEETEST THING and ANCHORMAN. So happy to hear she’s going to work on another bigscreen comedy.

I thought Christina Applegate more than held her own in Anchorman while Aniston has been a complete dead fish in every comedy she’s been involved in. This is good news.

Maybe the money men have wised up to the fact that Anniston is a box office poison unless attached to a big name male actor or a cute dog. I am happy for Christina and I hope this means more talented actresses will get a shot in the future.

Agreed; even the writers of MARRIED WITH CHILDREN knew she was too smart for the dumb role she played, and started slipping her jokes that were “wrong” for her character- but right for her razor-sharp delivery.

Besides Christina Applegate being an over the hill hack comic actress, she’s anti-union and made incredibly selfish ignorant remarks when she blamed the Writers Strike for ruining her Golden Globes experience. This selfish harlot doesn’t deserve to work, and there’s MANY WRITERS who will NEVER hire her.
Not a fan of the Farellys kind of humor but glad to see Christina Applegate working again so soon after disappointing cancellation of her TV series.
