Narc Director Joe Carnahan had been a client for 10 years of Endeavor’s Phil Raskind who sequed to WME. The agency most recently got him The A-Team directing gig. CAA has its work cut out for it: Carnahan has long had a reputation as a hothead. He walked off the Mission Impossible 3 pre-production after getting into it with Cruise. And blew up White Jazz after a similar situation, this time with George Clooney. I’ll forever remember when he started bashing the Writers Guild on his blog and then had to apologize. Joe C has gone from talented hothead to irrelevant.
I support Carnahan and everything he does because he makes good movies. He’s a fantastic director and is maligned by those jealous of him.
Few people in Hollywood are as explosive and childish as Michael Bay, and everyone knows how Cameron is reputed to be a holy terror on set. Carnahan’s not as good as Cameron but is WAY better than Bay (not that that’s saying much!) but he doesn’t deserve anyone’s petty jealousies.
I look forward to his future work, which will be FAR better than anything his “critics” ever make.
Good luck finding a better agent than Raskind.
Joe has a long way to go before he is ever Bay. You people out here are always so hateful, rather just jealous. Keep attacking a guy (Bay) that topped the Variety list for making the most money in the business this year. I’ve worked for Bay on his crew for 13 years on and off and he is funny but knows how the hell to shoot and get it done!
Lesher is a producer without a deal right now is what I hear. Turned down the paramount offer and is doing his own thing. May actually work out for him if he has had a few of the corners knocked off. Was always a dude with great taste and good talent relationships, undermined by his own personal presentation. But what do I know?
If Joe moved to UTA, maybe then he could have the promise of a real career.
Michael Bay still thinks it’s 1985. At least Joe realizes it’s not.
Unfair to lump him in the same category as Bay and Cameron. Most directors are pricks on set. They have to be. There’s so much at stake. So many chefs in the kitchen.
I’m sick of all these girly-men complaining because a director tells the to shut the fuck up, or go fetch them a coffee, or some shit.
For fuck’s sake, this is Hollywood. Everyone’s a cunt.
When will it start to pay off to actually be nice in this business? It seems like only the assholes get ahead.
Sad.
