From Deadline|London editor Tim Adler: You may be upset or relieved to hear my news that Howard Stern definitely won’t be joining American Idol as the judge replacing Simon Cowell. According to my sources close to the show, the new judge will be announced at the end of the current run. Whoever gets the gig will have a sweet deal: 19 Entertainment, the London-based company which created American Idol, has a budget of $38 million to spend on Cowell’s replacement.

Thank YOU! Howard Stern is a MORON!
you are an idiot
Does anyone really think Howard would take that job, if it were offered? He makes $100 million a year right now and has tremendous influence in the entertainment industry. While Idol would be better off with Stern, he and the rest of us are better with him doing something besides judging a karaoke contest. Howard is the KING OF ALL MEDIA and has gotten Idol more press than they could have bought by just suggesting he might have been offered the job.
Bababooey!
1st…..Howard does not make 100 mil a year. He was given that much initially to setup his “satellite” show and hire his staff (total failure of the highest proportion). So…to say “does anyone really think Howard would take the job”? Of course he would. This show continuosly outdraws every other radio/televion show in the world (except Limbaugh)and it is the only avenue(prime time) in which Stern has not had a go at. Talented…yes/ Idol material….NO. Stay with radio Howee….you got the face for it.
Wrong on all counts. His contract was for $100 million per year, that’s $500 million over five years…not a one-time payment to set up a staff. He brought virtually his entire staff from WXRK to Sirius and hired others well…yeah what a complete failure giving dozens of employees a livelihood. And Rush Limbaugh, even by his own estimation, does not draw nearly the audience that American Idol does.
It takes a lot of BUSINESS SAVVY to pull together the mini-empire he’s created with strippers, crackheads, and man-children. Imagine what he can do with his powers for good purposes.
Thank God!!!!!!! That Howard Stern will not be Simon Cowell’s replacement… there is a difference between a Papaya and a Plaintian…. or ripen seedless red grapes and crab apples….
Idol is irrelevant now anyway,
So is Howard….
Yes Idol barely matters anymore and for the vast majority of the country, Howard matters less. It would have been a train wreck for both organizations.
funny how a guy can a rumor about himself and get so much attention from it, even some Media outlets were begining to believe it.
Howard Stern is a master at his shtick, but he is an overbearing, egocentric personality whose talents do not suit a format where the focus is intended to be on prospective contest winners.
A classic mismatch has been avoided.

I will be the first to say that I disappointed. Baba Booey!
Does anybody actually think idol can survive without Cowell?
yes, Dennis Miller, favorite guest and buddy of fox’s O’Reilly. He has that look about him, he is funny. and handsome too. Or I would enjoy STOFFELL, now on fox new business,,too many reruns tho on the weekend. you know John Stoffell the long time cohost on ABC’s “2020 tv show. I dropped my jaw when I saw on O’Reillys that Fox now has him..he is so handsome and also has that twinkle in his eye look about him that the current what is his name that is retiring?
Too bad. I just may have started watching this show if Howard was on it.
boo. so much for a ratings level sans-simon cowell. oh well, it’s a terrible show anyhow. maybe at least now the man will stay where we need him…sirius radio.
Howard at least would be interesting, and would definitely have a strong opinion. Dumb-dumbs Kara, Randy, and Ellen should have hoped he would have done it, because those three need all the help they can get and certainly can not drive that show themselves. It, however, would have been a horrible move for Howard Stern. This show has really run off the tracks by letting Paula go, hiring Ellen (more music expertise than long-time DJ Stern? I think not) and now the imminent departure of Cowell. Howard would be joining a dying show…so the best thing that could happen to him is to continue being the king of radio as opposed to the king of a show that is in the process of jumping the shark. Howard has won in any endeavor he has ever done…Kara, Randy, and Ellen should have recognized that. Instead, they appear to be guiding a sinking vessel with who to help save it? Tommy Mottola?! Yeah, he’s exciting.
Ellen can dance, and she loves music. That’s why Ellen makes a perfect judge.
I find that hard to believe.
yeah!
Idol does not deserve to worship howard stern’s prostate!!
Hungry…
I’m very relieved to hear that. I would not have watched it had that lecherous, perverted man been the judge on it.
I agree. You cannot have a man who brings out the disgusting side of people on a show that has teenagers on it. AI is a talent show for families to watch. It is a glorified singing competition. It is wholesome entertainment. They are going to have to be careful about who replaces Simon. Bad choice and no one is going to watch.
When i heard that Sewer Man aka Howard Stern was in the running for Idol, my first thought was, what Idiot proposed that ? Now that saner minds have prevailed im so glad he can stay in his maggot infested sewer up in the sky .
Your pant don’t seem to be on fire and yet…
Howard would be the end of American Idol. With him we could have a modern day Sadom and Gamora. Some woud like it.
Please check your spelling. It is “Sodom and Gomorrah.”
Big mistake. I would start watching Idol if Howard took over.
Howard Stern sucks. He has got to be the worst “celebrity” ever. Who gives a rats A** about wither one. Never watched Idol and have listened to Stern one time. He is an ignoramus with emphasis on anus.
Howard has been irrevelant for the past 5 years. He hasn’t cared about his radio show for years. He takes every Friday off for Christ Sake. Does anybody else in radio do that? Has anybody in the history of radio done that, and then asked for you to pay to listen to them? He’s a natural geek. Nerd. Dork.
BWAHAHAHAHA!!! Howard started this rumor about himself and the media and all the idiots that watch Idol fell for it!!!
Good bye Idol, without Cowell or Howard Stern the show will fail, good thing, it’s horrible.
Shy Ronnie for fourth judge…HA HAIGH!!
I am bored with Idol and would have started watching it with Stern. Who do all you goody two shoes have in mind, Barry Manilow?
First off, I am disappointed that I need to wait until monday for howard to react to this. I have been a fan for many years, but I am not a fan of some of his actions. Mainly all the vacation time he gets and does not let people know, how defensive he gets regarding Artie updates, and the latest bs regarding american idol. Although I am a fan of howard, i hope he feels embarrassed about leading people to believe he was the next judge. He had no reason to lie about it.
Although he is important in the entertainment industry, he has become even worse at his self centered attitude. His ego has finally become so big that he is annoying more than funny.
He says he was quite irritated that Ellen said she would leave if he were hired because it could cost him a job and he would never do that to someone, but meanwhile he would try to make her quit if he were hired.
I am sure he is reading the comments on this blog and I hope this upsets him because it is meant to.
