The Los Angeles Times must be desperate. Rachel Abramowitz is peddling the story of Angelina Jolie-as-Kay Scarpetta (novelist Patricia Cornwall’s signature character) as news when Mike Fleming wrote it for Variety back on April 21, 2009. By the way, his Deadline|New York site debuts on March 2nd. I’m going to miss sharing Deadline|Hollywood with him these past weeks. We caused trouble!
Editor-in-Chief Nikki Finke - tip her here.

Yes, you and Mike have caused a lot of trouble… and we’ve loved every minute of it. Can’t wait for the next chapter.
The only thing more fun than making movies, is talking shit about them and getting paid for it. Woot(!) For deadline NYC, can’t wait.
Poor LA Times. In the meantime, yay Michael Fleming. He was always the best thing about Variety. Viva DH-NY!
I’m so excited to have DL:NY coming soon!
Kick em’ when they’re down, right Nikki?
They’ve kicked themselves so much already that their balls are in their stomach.
this is kinda like when you reported a couple of weeks ago that Matt Damon was getting the Cinematheque awards as a “new” story except it had already come out months ago…oh and then when I called you on it, you deleted my post. classy!
So does that mean you were desperate when you recently published the old story about the Daredevil reboot? Curious what the dividing line is
You didn’t cause any trouble for us (your loyal readers), so I assume that you mean that you caused trouble for Them. It’s been fun, and I can’t wait for DH:NY. Best of luck to both of you.
Old news except for the fact that Williamson is writing, and that’s the most exciting thing about the project. She’s the not-so-best-kept-secret in town. Here’s hoping the studio notes don’t f**k it up.
Rachel Abramowitz was one of those reporters who made fun of me (her OWN colleague) behind my back after my life was threatened and then years later went onto write a story pining for the return of the man who destroyed so many lives (mostly women, btw). She is not only a crappy reporter, she’s a despicable human being.
In the meantime, yay Michael Fleming. He was always the best thing about Variety
