Yeah I agree. Palin is a much more popular public figure, and of course she’s going to get the ratings on Tuesday. That doesn’t mean people will vote for her (and it might mean the opposite, in fact). Come election time, I have to believe cooler heads will prevail.

RATINGS RESULTS:
Leno will take in his highest ratings for his entire new run on the Tonight Show. They will DROP DRAMATICALLY because of the quiet, unspoken pro-Conan boycott. Then, NBC’s other show (Seinfeld as marriage counselor?) will get abysmal ratings and be off the air in a few weeks.
HOWEVER, Romney will easily destroy Palin in the primaries (if she even runs) and Romney will then destroy Obama in 2012.
It’s all so predictable.
I agree that Palin will win the night, but I kind of want to see what she’ll have to say about mean-spirited David Letterman. Also as you mention, the choice of the audience as to who wins ratings as guest on a talk show next week has almost no correlation to who the public wants to see in the White House 2 years from now.
Leno is NOT a republican. When it was rumored he was, he came out and said himself he was not. When someone tries to be bi-partisan and have both sides as guests is when someone on the fanatical left labels them a republican. You don’t understand hearing both sides.
And he probably will throw her softballs, just as he’s thrown softballs to every liberal he’s had on, but you don’t see that, you are too stuck in the ideology.

I don’t know how often you watch these shows, but they don’t usually try to make any of their guests answer hard questions. They’re not dumb enough to irritate half their audience (be it democrat or republican).
And like her or hate her, Sarah Palin probably couldn’t be as horrible of a President as Obama if she tried. And at the very least she has proven herself able to govern on a smaller level. What’s Obama done? Only thing he does well is campaign.
As for Romney, I don’t think enough Christians would vote for him to get him through the primaries. In the minds of most Christians, voting for a Mormon is not much different than voting for a cult leader.

Last week Schwarzenegger went on all the major news shows and said California was doing great and had just created 150,000 jobs in the “green” sector. But there are no jobs. California is on the brink of financial collapse. No one ever asked him what these jobs were or what the source for that “statistic” was. Supposedly a Republican, Schwarzenegger continually talked about Republicans as if they were “the other party.”
That state needs to lay off tens of thousands of highly paid union workers and cut high salaries and benefits to those who remain just to have a chance at recovery. But he’s talking about 150,000 non-exisistent jobs as what’s going to save their economy.
George Bush was “dumber than a box of hammers” yet he fooled all the smart ones into supporting his Iraq operations. Sarah Palin is equally as dumb (purportedly) and yet she is target #1 of the left. Why not target persons who are actually smart=dangerous to your cause.?

An officeholder who would voluntarily makes the decision to resign because she believes she (or he as the case may be) can no longer be effective; who believes she should step aside because it is in the best interest of the people she was elected to represent, is an honorable person.
The kind of person who is not fit for office is one who refuses to resign, no matter how corrupt and/or inept he has proven himself to be, who has abused his office and lost the trust and respect of those who placed in that position, who is determined to hang onto power and position only to enrich himself, despite his manifest unfitness.
A person who is willing to sacrifice her political career because she believes it is in the best interest of the people who elected her (as well as the ones who didn’t) is a person who sought office for the right reasons, not just a desire to empower and enrich herself. A person who is willing to resign an office when she comes to the conclusion that she cannot do a good job given the political atmosphere she is dealing with, realizing that it is in the best interest of her state to give up her office is, I think, the kind of person we want in that position in the first place.
If you think that Sarah Palin is not well informed enough, not polished enough or perhaps just too young to be elected to high political office, or you disagree with her political views, it makes sense that you would not want to to see her holding public office. But if your reason for not wanting her in a position of authority is because she made the decision to resign when she felt it was in the best interest of Alaska, please think again carefully! What Sarah Palin has demonstrated by her decision to reisgn is humility, courage, and strength of character; rare qualities have been almost entirely missing in our political leadership for much too long.

Palin couldn’t have won, she was the VP to an Obama fan. President’s are elected and they typically get more air time than their VP’s. Palin actually made the race close, I seen reports showing that Palin gave McCain a 10 point boost.
Leno’s show with Palin will win. The people that hate her will watch to see her stumble (or hope she stumbles) and the people that love her will watch. Those two groups likely make up 87% of the viewing public.

Romney scores higher in polls among Republicans and all voters for preference for candidate for President. Palin draws more crowds and sells more books.
Why? Palin is personally more popular, but there is a large portion of the public that does not like her at all (mostly women). No one hates Mitt Romney but no one loves him either.

Like most of the previous posts, I believe Leno and Palin will win that particular night if only because more people are fascinated with what comes out of Palin’s mouth — and not necessarily the substance of it.
However, it is curious to note that 3 of Leno’s first guests are US athletes from the Winter Olympics. NBC is trying hard to make it seem like he has not been black-balled. I wonder how NBC packaged that deal with the athletes.

Letterman has only Hollywood has-beens who are also in-your-face liberals line up, with the exception of Romney (who he will work to diminish); Leno has some of Hollywood’s and Sports’ most currently popular, non-political figures plus the most entertaining conservative of the day on his roster. Smart programming, Leno. Got your ear to the ground. Bug for Letterman’s ear: sports, non-political entertainers and conservatism are in; liberalism (thanks to the liberals) and arrogant, politically opinionated celebs are not. Leno’s line up promises pure entertainment; Letterman is obviously in campaign mode for the November election. Leno is not a backstabber; he is a shrewd businessman who did what anyone else in business would do. Conan was not funny. He was hard to stomach, which left people who do not care for Letterman looking for late night entertainment elsewhere, creating the perfect opportunity for a third party, excuse me, a third network to rise from Leno’s ashes. Politicians don’t want a third party; the big 2 networks didn’t want a 3rd late night show squeezing in on them; 3’s a crowd in the public arena. Conan had to go; Leno had to come back. Now everybody’s happy. Except Conan and his small, but very vocal, number of groupies.

Shaun White is a wildly popular gold medalist, he’s on the same night as Palin and will be a bigger draw with viewers… that’s not a fair comparison. I’d love to see him and also hear Romney talk about his trip to Vancouver. I might remind you kids that Leno was pushed out of the Tonight Show unfairly and Conan drove it into the ground with poor ratings (that were worse than Leno’s new show, you leave that little tidbit out) Conan’s tantrum just made him look like a sore loser. And Ron Paul supporters recruited students online to show up at CPAC and pack the vote. Nobody else did that so he won. It’s not really a legitimate sign of anything to come. No pro-Conan protest will help…he didn’t have enough viewers to keep the job. Letterman will still be pathetic even with good guests. He used to be funny…now he’s just an angry adulterer with a chip on his shoulder and a penchant for homely women….he is a total waste of their time too.
Jay Leno has old dad humor, you laugh cause its the nice thing to do but its not really that funny. His show will be a bust if it’s anything like his last show. I’m with CoCo!
Only a Democrat would take the time to watch two silly entertainers like Leno and Letterman preaching their non-sensical blather. Surprisingly, their ratings will go up as two Republicans try to put some sense into their show. Maybe the Democrats will finally wise up. For your enlightment, the ratings will rise as more Republicans will watch the show to see how two informed Republicans try to educate the mental midgets that watch the show. Either of the two would make great Presidents although I prefer Sarah.
Jay Leno could not make me laugh at gunpoint. Letterman is funny, but neither can touch Johnny Carson who was especially hilarious when the monolouge bombed.
Jay Leno will tromp Letterman. A no brainer. Dave’s mean spirited,sarcastic attitude and anti-Republican political ramblings are wearing viewers down. He is just no longer entertaining in any way. His whole format is dated (the Ed Sullivan wanna-be) and so is he.
Both Leno’s and Letterman’s guests were chosen to win the ratings for the late night time slot in this very important night for both Jay and David. The Libs should understand that viewers will not tune in because they dislike the guest, just like Conservatives don’t tune it to watch President Obama. The important numbers to watch regarding tonight’s shows IS Not who got the highest share, but the total viewers of these 2 shows compared to previous numbers of these 2 shows. If these numbers are not high, then I will agree that these 2 guests (Palin and Romney) are not liked. My prediction is Leno will win, but Letterman will be higher than recent months.
Pleeeeez…pull the plug on both of these geezers. CBS, have the guts to move Craig Ferguson up!
I have to get up early on weekday mornings, so Leno’s Tuesday night show might be past my bedtime; however, I will definitely be looking for videos of Sarah Palin’s appearance on Leno the next morning at work (they’re just “background noise” while I type, boss, honest!).
Why are you Palin-hating liberals so damn sexist? Why the double standard? What do you have against women being political leaders? Hell, you guys made me sympathetic towards Hilary Clinton in the last primary. And trust me, that’s not a small accomplishment.
I challenge anyone to explain to me why the ambulance chaser, John Edwards was qualified to be president. He was the V.P. candidate in ‘04 and a serious presidential contender in ‘08. Today the country knows Edwards to be the lying scum that he is, but what made him SOOOOOOO qualified to be chief executive then? It’s true Edwards didn’t win the Democratic primary, but he wasn’t ridiculed like Palin is either.
I trust Sarah PALIN. More so than any of the other potential candidates.
Once again the inmates are running the asylum. When did two entertainment people (and I for one do not find David Letterman entertaining)suddenly become the barometer for the direction of the country? Neither of these people should go on any of these shows to include Comedy Central or others. Appealing to the weak-minded who weigh the problems of this country in 30 second sound bites and popularity contests is how we got here in the first place. For those who say she is stupid, umm, really? She quit. Ummm ok, but her reasoning was true for that. She lost? really, the ticket lost, mostly because the top was weak and ran a horrible campaign. I like Mitt, businessman, accomplished, good solid governor of a LIBERAL state, faulty on health care. We currently have a weak president who can’t even kick the ciogarette habit (I did after over 20 years). An inexperienced community organizer who hasn’t held a job, and was only a Senator for 180 days whiel running for President all of those. Really? He hasn’t accomplished anything except ording a pirate killed…good one Barry, glad your colon is clear….carry on, nothing to see here.

Well, lets see now, my “take” on this Palin thing and a two-dollar bill will get you one cup of coffee in, I think, most places in the good old US of A.
SO–Palin is a very lovely person with a normal family in today’s world and a very wholesome and happy home life. She leads a life that many of us would very much enjoy. She has accomplished a great deal in her lifetime–the most significant being a Mother and wife in a very “American” family. She also was elected Governor of Alaska–and , from all I can discern, made notable and needed accomplishments during her tenure. She apparently is very well thought of in Alaska. This in itself seems to irritate so many people. She has been accused of not being too bright–but by whom? Compared to most–again it’s only my thinking– members of the party who castigates her she is a mental giant. How can she be “dumb” after being a most successful Governor–and our current president be “absolutely brilliant” following his career as a party organizer and senator? Just my thought!
Considering the screams and accusations emanating from the left I would imagine Sarah has a most brilliant career ahead of her. And I sure hope I am correct!!

Leno will get the higher ratings on Tuesday night and Palinistas will gloat in their victory that totally had nothing to do with Shaun White being there.
Then in 2012, Republicans nationwide will select Palin over Romney as their Presidential nominee. Exit polls will show the deciding factor to be late night ratings from March 2010. This will be of little comfort as Obama wins reelection in a landslide guaranteeing four more years of crap.
Or possibly nobody will remember this two weeks from now and Romney will be our next President as America chooses on economic issues…
