Jay Leno made news when he announced that Sarah Palin will be among his high-profile guests when he returns to The Tonight Show next week (aka “The Jaysurrection”). Now David Letterman’s lineup for next week pits Mitt Romney against Sarah Palin on Tuesday night — and the ratings may well provide clues on which probable GOP presidential contender may be most popular. The week’s lineup for Letterman’s Late Show are: MONDAY, Bill Murray; TUESDAY, Mitt Romney; WEDNESDAY, Jerry Seinfeld and Tom Brokaw; THURSDAY, Tom Hanks; and FRIDAY, Matt Damon. Leno’s first week of guests are: MONDAY, Jamie Foxx, Olympic Gold Medal Skier Lindsey Vonn; TUESDAY, Sarah Palin, Olympic Gold Medal Snowboarder Shaun White; WEDNESDAY, “Jaywalk All-Stars” with the Cast of MTV’s Jersey Shore, Chelsea Handler, and the most decorated American Winter Olympian of all time Speed Skater Apolo Anton Ohno; THURSDAY, Matthew McConaughey and Jason Reitman; FRIDAY, Morgan Freeman and Meredith Vieira.

Leno will win the first night on a curiosity bump; Letterman will take the rest of the week.
Leno will slowly bleed out, his already adversely affected profile/persona suffering further and pushing Hollywood/Showbiz and the publicists/gurus that shuffle them around–who’ve already voted Letterman (as Conan’s putative proxy) over Leno thus far–to shift even harder onto Dave’s side of the 11: 30 pm seesaw, possibly even launching Leno (and NBC) heels over ass.
(Then again, this is a guy built to take it on the chin. Nascar/Pop Country America will stay at his side.)
Thus it shall be.
I don’t like her politics, but I love how Plain makes pompous Obama cult members cry.
Obama is failing badly, and you’re just looking for someone to vent on.
Yeah, Palin is kinda plain.
I for one will not being watching wither of them. Battle of the Grand Old Party talking heads is not going to interest me. Palin is an ignorant idiot and Romney is a robot with an agenda. Now if Letterman had on Bernie Sanders – I would definitely watch. I’ll go for Nightline, Jimmy Kimmel or Charlie Rose.
The only way Romney wins is if he is quizzed on his personal view of magical underpants. They are both kooks and should not be trusted with nuke codes.
I would trust Corky from Life Goes On or Lyndon LaRouche as president before I trust either of those bozos.
Romney built one of the biggest investment funds on Wall Street. He probably already has the nuclear codes.
Santa, don’t tell me. You’re one of the Family Guy writers, right? Am I right? Okay, go ahead and tell me.
“Magical Underpants”? Really? Is that the best you can do? If you don’t like Romney, then don’t like Romney. However, ridiculing someone’s religious beliefs, of which you obviously have very little knowledge, is plainly low brow and unintelligent.
Criticize Romney for the faults you see in him, but why insult all the Mormons in the world? I would guess that (whether you realize it or not), you know Mormons and chances are they would give you the shirt off their backs- as would many good people.
You’re post demonstrates your lack of character and intelligence. You may want to think twice before making a public display of your foolishness and ignorance again.
I’d watch Leno & Palin but I’m afraid my television would spontaneously combust or melt. And It”s a really nice TV.
Not to turn this into a political discussion – but Palin Won’t run. Who’s going to campaign for her? Living with her day & night for almost 2 years on the trail? Her own husband can’t stand to be near her for too long a period of time.
Joan Jett on Leno March 9th!! Whaaaa??? That Sucks. I’m a HUGE Jett Fan but I’ll catch the performance on Youtube. Not giving Bigjaw the ratings point.
F him.
One thing about Palin. She knew damn well that Romney was going to be on with Letterman. It was announced weeks ago. She certainly thinks awfully highly of herself to pit herself against Mitt. It seems she can’t stand to be out of the spotlight for more than 2 minutes. Mitt has a book coming out that is a plus for the entire Republican team (great message; No Apology, the case for American Greatness), but Sarah’s got to get in on part of the action. Telling. She’s not a team player. It’s always, all about Sarah. That’s trouble when it comes to positions of power.
Being a team player like Romney is why our country and our government is in the mess it is now. I think your promotion of Romney hints at you being a team player.
i’m sorry, you’re an idiot. all about her? not a team player? maybe we’ll find out. is ron paul a team player? that is exactly the problem. i don’t want another republican who is just as corrupt. i want a conservative that represents the majority of americans, not themselves or the biggest lobby.
Yeah Right, She’s going to play with a republican team that undercut her, NOT. Oh did you notice, Bush I,cheney and the other insiders backed Hutchinson and Sarah Palin backed Perry and Perry one. The writing is on the wall.
Forget about those two old gasbags. Tune in to Lopez Tonight and actually laugh.
Lopes sucks.
what’s the excitement for, these are all going to be crap interviews filled with much host mugging and weak one-liners with no one saying anything remotely interesting
Like most of the previous posts, I believe Leno and Palin will win that particular night if only because more people are fascinated with what comes out of Palin’s mouth — and not necessarily the substance of it.
However, it is curious to note that 3 of Leno’s first guests are US athletes from the Winter Olympics. NBC is trying hard to make it seem like he has not been black-balled. I wonder how NBC packaged that deal with the athletes.
And Jersey Shore, really? …okay, I admit, I’ll probably watch that online.
Both Palin and Romney sucked wind in the CPAC straw poll. Sure, CPAC is a bunch of mouth-breathers but they’re also the new GOP base. Conclusion is that the GOP sucks.
The fact that people are even mentioning talk show ratings in the same breath as the viability of potential presidential candidates is what’s absolutely horrifying about America right now.
This is the most accurate and telling comment posted.
I agree, am shocked at the ignorance of so many.
The haters of Gov. Palin are so filled with bitter gaul that to express themselves with any sort of civility is difficult. Note the hate, cuss words, and vile insults spewing from their mouths. Why? Right vs Left rivilary, lack of information, closed minded, and mostly fear of a person who has the guts to stand up to the good ole boys. Going Rogue? You betcha, she has my vote, she is tough, independent, and has more courage than any other politician on either side of the stained aisle of the political landscape.
These comments that argue over late night talk shows definitely need to turn it all off. TV is mostly a waste of time anyway. Read some books, open mindedness is healthy, read a mix of political views, get educated, and especially volunteer locally and or go on a missionary trip. With God’s blessing, lives will change and happiness will abound, hatred will dissolve.
You are right on. America, thy name is celebrity.
Horrifying, yes. Surprising, no.
Oh great. Leno and Romney, the dueling flagpins. Will the Tonight Show band be playing Dueling Banjos? All that’s missing is Ned Beatty in his underwear.
Pitting Romney vs. Palin is a really hilarious idea. I can’t wait till Palin calls Romney a polygamist, and Romney tells Palin to get back into her kitchen.
Wonder when Leno will have Conan as a guest? Or will it be Letterman who has Conan?
It will definitly be Letterman. What Leno did to Conan is unforgivable.
its not who will be more popular, I would watch Palin because I want to see that train wreck, way more entertaining that watching mr slick romney
Don’t pay attention too closely or else some of what she says might start making sense to you.
The Letterman monologue, a.k.a “love letter to Leno and Palin” is MUST-SEE TV. Not an accident Leno’s got Shaun White, Rock Star Boarder, perfectly propping up Palin as well. GOP would be stupid to buy into the hype. But then again…
Leno also has Adam Lambert on the show singing tues night. He always boosts ratings an average of 1.5mil for whatever show he is on. Plus it is a night American Idol is on. I prefer Mitt over Sarah, but leno wins the night with Adam Lambert alone.
Why is Sarah Palin such a threat to elitist Liberals/Progressives. Every time her name is mentioned you blow a gasket. I think it is because she is much more intelligent in a normal way (also known as common sense) than all of the elitist intellectuals put together. Of course Leno will blitz Letterman on the night as not only will all of Palins fans be watching but also all of the Lib/Progs who really get their jollies watching a real woman will be watching in their bedrooms with a box of tissues nearby.
It’s because she is a moron and thinks she’s smart. That’s the entertainment. If you haven’t noticed that then I assume you don’t have any college education
I know, Larry, it amazes me, too. I think they fear her. If they didn’t they would just make some small comment if any, but with her the GOP have hit a nerve. They fear her strength subconciously, I think.
Because they believe everything they read on the internet. They claim that people are “brainwashed” by Fox News, but they forward every email they get claiming that Sarah Palin is an idiot.
Don’t care much for Sarah.
Si Se Puede!
Without McCain, Palin would have won the election. She could run with a cheese sandwich and beat Obama/Biden.
Leno or Letterman…Hmmmm…What channel is Carson on?!!!!!
Romney is as exciting as last year’s turkey. Palin rocks and makes the libs absolutely freak out, yell, scream, panic, stomp, and shout out their hate speech. No contest as to where the action will be; Leno make a good ratings move.
You liberal elitists think that you have to be educated at Harvard to be President. Common sense is what your beloved dumbass messiah doesn’t have. Anyone who tries to govern against the will of the American people is a despot. I can’t wait till the tea baggers throw your bunch of morons out. Palin has more executive experience in her little finger than Barak Obama has in his head. ’nuff said!
Imagine, for a moment, that Palin was a Democrat. She’d be hailed by her party as a modern woman and a courageous mother.
I’ve been an active political volunteer for over 30 years, and on Tuesday night at 11:35 I’ll probably be watching Family Guy on Cartoon Network. I have already seen Mrs. Palin and Mr. Romney in many other interviews.
I’ll be interested in the ratings of that show against Letterman and Leno.
Family Guy? Really? If that’s your intellectual limit, then keep on volunteering, because no one is going to hire you, or vote for you, except, of course, for those South Park fans who don’t get Family Guy.
