UPDATES EXCLUSIVE: Taylor Lautner Is Now Hollywood’s Highest Paid Teenage Actor
UPDATES EXCLUSIVE: Taylor Lautner To Be Paramount’s Next Big Action Star
He’s already Hollywood’s highest paid teen. Pretty soon, he may also be Hollywood’s richest teen. He’s certainly Hollywood’s hardest working teen. Universal has just cast the 17-year-old Twilight Saga star Taylor Lautner to play title character Stretch Armstrong based on the Hasbro toy. The studio is giving Stretch superhero powers in the new 3D franchise that is scheduled for release in 2012. Universal Pictures Chairman Adam Fogelson and Co-Chairman Donna Langley think Lautner is “the real deal” and are undaunted by all the other projects which Taylor also is launching, including the Max Steel franchise at Paramount and the 3rd and 4th installments of the Twilight Saga for Summit Entertainment, and other films.
“In the past two years, Taylor has emerged as a real star at the global box office. He brings the perfect balance of energy and athleticism to the role of an unlikely super hero with a fantastic super power,” said Langley. “We couldn’t be more pleased that he has agreed to be our Stretch.”
Agreed Brian Goldner, President and CEO of Hasbro: “The addition of Taylor Lautner and the 3-D twist to Stretch Armstrong is sure to pay dividends when the film is released in 2012.”
The studio said Stretch Armstrong is moving to 2012 “to allot time to shape the project into a 3-D superhero adventure and to accommodate Lautner’s existing commitments”. Stretch Armstrong is based on the action figure popular around the world dating back to the 1970s and re-launched in the 1990s. Academy Award-winning producer Brian Grazer (A Beautiful Mind, 8 Mile, American Gangster) will team with Hasbro to produce. Steve Oedekerk (Bruce Almighty) has written the screenplay, and Hasbro’s Goldner and Schneir also produce.

I was a child of the 90s and I remember this toy. Never in my life did I think I would see the day when Hollywood would make a major movie out of a twenty-year old rubber doll. I hope Universal loses their shirts. Taylor, I imagine, has already lost his.
Bahahahaha! Can’t stop laughing.
Nothing against the kid – but this just sounds awful lol.
Like some here, I go to far too many movies that I would never go see if my job did not require me to be current on what is playing in theaters. It gets quite depressing when I consider that the last three movie-house experiences that I really, truly enjoyed were the three most recent Metropolitan Opera Live in HD “Moviecasts”….
Absolutely ridiculous that this kid is getting roles. Young Hollywood is absolutely horrendous now. The likes of him and Megan Fox and the rest its just so sad.
and the shit parade continues. Awful idea for a film . And he can’t act. why not just do a 20 minute movie of focusing on his body and call it a day . Low budget- low brow, big bucks
He’s over promoted and the producers are over estimating his appeal. There will be tears……
so well said……
His stint on SNL should tell you everything…
Great looking guy, seems nice, but the ‘chops’ are in his abs, not his acting skills.
Holy Cow Batman! Sheesh, what a mess Hollywood is. And, please bring back Tobey as Spiderman. I am sick to death of these sparkly vampire kids.
Ok WTF? What the hell is that toy??Never heard of it really.
Look i’m a girl,18 years old and i don’t find him attractive AT ALL.
And if he got this role because of his body than those people are f*cked in their heads.
Rob is at least doing more mature films.
Especially Bel-Ami. I read that book and that would be a chalenge for him.
But this? No thanks.
I don’t care if there are tears. I just want to see Hollywood big shots lose money and/or their jobs over shoving this (ugly) child into our consciousness.
All I have to say about this idea is that it is MAS PUTO SQUARED!!!!! That is “mas puto” to the power of two.
When it takes 20 years to get an indie film made, that’s typical and the filmmakers shouldn’t give up if they really believe in the material. It’s not easy convincing financiers and distributors that art is worth taking a gamble on.
But when a conventional Hollywood film has been in Development for 20 years, that’s a sign that something is inherently wrong with the material. See Jerry Bruckheimer’s “Bad Company” or Disney’s “The Wild Life”. Sretch Armstrong was a bad idea for a movie 20 years ago, and it’s a terrible idea today.
And there is absolutely no overwhelming public nostalgia for the toy. At all. None. So where’s the marketing boost?
Lautner should fire his reps for signing him on to this.
I think his father sees $ signs. He is absolutely selling his son for a pot of gold. Or else, he is a genius and knows his son has limited acting time and is doing the best he can to go to the well before anyone catches on. ……. I’m going to go with the first one.
Agreed.
Taylor is good looking, hardworking and will be worth every penny he is paid. Nikki, please get a better picture of him up for the next Taylor scoop! Go Thor, Go Team Taylor!
Seriously?
Please… if some of you here wants to bash Taylor, then don’t mention Rob Pattinson at all… i am a Rob fan but i am happy for Taylor… they are hard working actors… let them do their job first then judge…
Why they think that Taylor is “bankable star”?
He didn’t make any movie yet where he had leading role.
And New Moon was succesful (in the beginning) because of books and Rob Pattinson.
You have got to be kidding me? They are going to make a movie from this stupid toy? LMAO….i had thought Taylor would have some brains in his head but after signing on for ANOTHER STUPID ACTION FILM…about a toy LMAO (i can’t stop laughing…what a joke this kid is). He can’t act…he has no appeal what so ever (not even his muscles)…i hope the studios that hire him lose everything…idiots lol
Sadly. this kid will grow up and he will be replaced by a younger version of himself. If I was his manager, I would advise him to get a role in the near future that shows he can truly act.
Proof? Long at the actors who has had a long career in Hollywood. They share one thing in common – roles that entirely consist of these ridiculous popcorn movies.
At least (if he gets bumped for the younger star) he’ll have plenty of money to find ways to kill the time.
No i think all you people are just jelous. You have to give stars a chance, it does not matter if you like them or not. Taylor is an ok actor so give him a chance you never know what he can do. Don’t question him because of what he looks like!
well he certainly has the muscles for the job. He will imprss all with his top off hey? xXx who thinks
he is so saexy in this movie and every where
