This answers those rumors that Jason Reed was going to leave Walt Disney Studios and take another gig outside the Mouse House:
BURBANK, Calif., February 10, 2010 – Alan Bergman, president of The Walt Disney Studios (TWDS), announced today that Jason Reed has been named head of international local productions for the Studio, as Executive Vice President and General Manager of Walt Disney Studios International Productions.
“We’re pleased to have someone with Jason’s knowledge and experience take on this international role for The Walt Disney Studios,” said Bergman. “One of our important and long-term strategic priorities is to grow international local productions and Jason’s skill set is perfectly suited to help us accomplish that goal.”
In this expanded role reporting directly to Bergman, Reed will be responsible for working closely with each country’s management to develop a comprehensive market strategy for the individual territories. He will lead a group working with the local teams on all creative and business-related aspects of creating new films including film and talent selection, deal-making and budget considerations.
Reed, a 15-year studio veteran, most recently served as Executive Vice President of Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures Production.

I still can’t believe he wasn’t named president last month. Something doesn’t smell right here…
Wow. This is actually a demotion, regardless of how they spin it. It’s like what happened with Sanford Panitch when he ‘left’ New Regency to take over the Fox international local productions. You’ll never hear from either one of them ever again.
This is a fantastic move for Jason. He’s a leader, a visionary and will be a force as a department head.
Wow. This is quite a huge role for him to play. Disney must have known that letting him go would be a mistake, as there’s not many qualified to do his job.
Do we know if he’ll be helping the new person transition into his old job? Do they have someone lined up?
Ross must have been worried about Reed taking his job in 5 years because he should have had it now.
I feel bad for Jason–this is the job that he’s already been doing for almost two years. The job market must be pretty bad if he’s staying at Disney while effectively being demoted from his job in the motion picture group. Also, what the hell does Alan Bergman have on Iger? I can’t figure out how he’s managed to stay in his job with all the other top guys getting axed. He’s not a bad guy, but he’s basically an accountant who hitched his wagon to Dick Cook.
