Said Kevin Reilly, the president of entertainment for Fox Broadcasting Company, “Fringe tapped into a deep creative mine this year that built momentum throughout the season and helped give us our first real foothold on TV’s most competitive night.” Reilly called the rest of this season “mind-blowing” when Fringe resumes with eight new episodes beginning April 1st at 9PM. The drama improved Fox’s performance in the time period by 11% among adults 18-49, and by 33% in total viewers. With its Bones lead-in, Fringe helped boost Fox’s Thursday average rating during the fall among adults 18-49 by 52%. The show was created by JJ Abrams & Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci and is exec produced by Abrams with Jeff Pinkner and JH Wyman who are also the showrunners.

It’s about freaking time!
Excellent there are lot of themes which are very interesting in Fringe, especially the one inspired by k. Dick of having discovered a parallel world through drugs! This exciting news!
It’s good of FOX to show faith in a show that is really taking a beating (Thurs @ 9) for the team.
i really desperately want to like fringe. if only j.j. abrams would kill off anna torv and joshua jackson and make the show completely revolve around john noble’s character, walter bishop, then we’d be approaching greatness of x-files proportion.
joshua jackson is just okay. but anna torv is like dead weight. i would imagine since she’s an aussie, she must be bringing money to the table.
I hope Chris Carter is getting residual money for this. Orci and Kurtz should have tried harder not to make such a blatant and boring ripoff.
And it shot its first season… in NY. I guested on it. And SAG NY, given their new-found “muscularity,” with the RBD and UFS was not able to keep it in… NY.
They let it go to… Vancouver. Cause Vancouver was cheaper.
Until SAG NY puts its money where its mouth is, and actually accomplishes something, ANYTHING, of REAL import, such as bringing MUCH more work to NY and then KEEPING it there, I will stick with my opinion.
NY SAG SUCKS.
They have no balls, no guts, and no results.
Money talks SAG NY, and bullshit walks, and the membership in NY, like me, someone who ran last time for the NY board, and came in 3rd from last, losing along with EVERY OTHER PROGRESSIVE, including Melissa Leo, Tony LoBianco, to the Boss Tweed, Richard Masur run NY boardroom (regardless of who is actually president of the NY division) – and you need to DO SOMETHING besides putting your thumbs up your ass and dreaming about merger – you need to do something NOW to GET and KEEP shows in NY.
THAT’S YOUR JOB.
My question to the NY members who keep electing and reelecting these knuckleheads is, WHAT ARE THEY DOING FOR YOU?
Are they getting you more opportunities? You’re in NY City for chrissakes, not Norman, Oklahoma! WHERE’S THE WORK?
I’ll tell you where: Canada, L.A., and every other place that has figured out how to get work and keep work.
You can’t go up to Albany and convince the legislature that tax incentives need to be competitive with these places?
Then get out of the way, and let someone run the place who can.
Because you have failed, and you have failed for YEARS.
NY is the Ireland of the entertainment industry. Our best and brightest immigrate to California, not because they WANT to, but because they HAVE to, because there is a small FRACTION of the jobs in NY.
You made sure those of us who want NY to become a truly vibrant, respectable 2nd place market to L.A. didn’t get anywhere near the boardroom, but you are accomplishing NOTHING.
Do TV and films WANT to shoot in NY? As opposed to Vancouver?
OF COURSE THEY DO. IT’S A FANTASTIC LOCATION.
Work would FLOCK to NY if NY was worth it for the producers, money-wise?
OF COURSE IT WOULD.
SAG NY board? Your number one job is to get and keep work in NY so our actors don’t have to constantly schlep out to L.A. or move there semi-permanently or permanently, which most NY-ers? DON’T WANT TO DO.
So, why aren’t you keeping us here? Your record in that area SUCKS.
Now, if only Abrams would cast a female lead who can act.
did you know the female lead is Rupert Murdoch’s niece? That might explain JJ’s decision to cast her!
The series started off weak but finally started to get its sh*t together this season with a better narrative flow/design and more interesting situations for the the two male leads. It actually has developed its own voice and is not longer a confused scatter-shot House/X-Files/CSI composite wannabee. Hopefully they can keep it going. Oh, would someone please feed Leonard Nimoy before he crumbles into dust and blows away. Maybe just some extra cheese on whatever he’s not eating will help. I’m afraid the poor guy is going to wheeze and expire in front of our eyes….
Thank you for your post!
This is a great show. Good acting, especially John Noble. Good writing. The production values are top notch. It is shot on 35mm film and you can really tell. It is a flagship show. Sorry to hear it is shot in Canada. I’ve noticed most of the new shows have a very flat dull dark look. Fox’s other Canadian show “Human Target” doesn’t look nearly as good as “Fringe”. Probably shot on digital cameras.
This great news! A terrific show and cast gets recognized. Can’t wait to see this year’s cliffhanger. THANK YOU FOX!
Fantastic news! As a long time fan of X-Files and Millenium, I appreciate JJ Abrams and his team for creating the first show in years that is smart, unpredictible, cool, and has a “sci-fi whow” factor that keeps its fans breathless until the next offering!
Keep up the good work guys.
Fringe is a great show! I’ve been on board since season 1. Sure it’s like the X-Files… well no it’s not really, it’s just a sci-fi serial. They also pay a lot of respect to the X-Files if you watch it… if you watch it. To all you vader haters out there: we’ll blow your planet up!
I can’t believe the folks who don’t like Anna Torv! I think she’s incredible! Her character is REALLY dark. Anna’s wonderful playing this role.
‘Hope FRINGE lasts a long time!
