Jamie Foxx will join Bruce Willis in Kane & Lynch, the Millennium Films/Lionsgate videogame adaptation that’s set to begin production in August. Willis plays a mercenary who gets framed, and then is broken out of prison by his former mates who’ve kidnapped his wife and daughter, and give him 72 hours to recover a doomsday device. Foxx will play his partner, a ticking time bomb of a guy. Simon Crane is directing, and Adrian Askarieh and Daniel Alter produce with David Willis and Millennium. The news leaked thanks to the screenwriter, Kyle Ward, who issued a St. Patrick’s Day tweet. So the news is officially out there.

Gosh, the shite on the story of Kane and Lynch. Fucking doomsday device, it needs to be about money. Fuck framed Kane is a mercenary who kills people and robs banks and profiteers off unstable small countries, and kidnaps people himself. It needs to be a revenge story. Fuck doomsdau device.
The first videogame was crappy, the upcoming one looks a little better, but still very generic and crappy. It’s kind of sad that Jamie Foxx and Bruce Willis got pulled into this shitty idea for a movie based on THIS crappy video game. I’m not even sure the first video game sold enough for videogamers to support a movie based on this uninspired IP. I’m sure Lionsgate can ruin the marketing for this movie even if the movie does somehow turnout decent.

yeah, great combo about 5-7 years ago. I love Willis, but he’s been phoning it in for years. Even DIE HARD 4, which solid upon it’s first viewing, falters in repeated ones. COP OUT, THE SURROGATES. It’s like the second coming of Nic Cage. As for Jamie Foxx? Never been a fan. Too much of a shameless self-promoter. Put it on the screen, not in the media or in the VIP room at some trendy club.

I can see Willis as Lynch, I just have a hard time with Foxx because he is a huge personality, had his own show, and just seems too clean to do a crime/revenge drama (that will suck because there is a doomsday machine).
I’m not referring to their age, but rather their diminished acumen as actors, specifically Willis.

Really? Are we splitting hairs on the racial identity of the characters in the video game KANE & LYNCH? I wasn’t aware that these were such iconic and sacred characters that a little racial diversity would be viewed as sacrilege. Grow up. It’s 2010.
on one level, who would care, this movie will be a pile of shit no matter who is in it, but on another it just continues the trend of casting movies in this fashion as a cynical appeal to ethnic self-esteem (I won’t see a movie unless some dude of my race is in it)

No, I haven’t because hollywood could never ruin my favorite book,cartoon, or videogame.I have yet to have one person explain to me, using logic, how can a movie ruin a book, cartoon, or videogame…Especially, a videogame.I have never in my life, nor will I ever complain about the actors/actress chosen to play character in a film base on what race they are.But I find it quite hypocritical that the same people who bitch and moan about a white character being change to black, asian or latino , then in turn saying nothing, or becoming defensive and hostile about a black, asian , or latino character being change to white in not only fictional work, but true stories as well.
I mean, did any of these same people complain about “21″, a true story about a asian card counting team,who’s entire cast, with the exception of two sterotypical asians, was changed into whites? Was their any protest against the movie “Wanted”, a movie in which Angelina Jolie’s played the black female character? How about Angie’s doing the whole skin darking in the true story “A Mighty Heart”? I don’t think so.

Kane and Lynch: Dead Men in my opinion has one of the best story of all games, but the gameplay was awful, then I heard there was gonna be a movie and thought THIS IS GONNA BE AWESOME!
Then I heard Bruce Willis was playin Kane… EVEN AWESOMER! (i know thats not a word)
Then I heard Jamie Foxx is playin Lynch…. WTF?
And now i hear theres a doomsday device???
Im still gonna see the movie but I have low expectations

I actually really enjoyed the videogame as its characters had such strong personalities, especially Lynch. I agree, the gameplay could have been a bit better, but I’m hoping the sequel will fix that, and I do intend to purchase it.
As for the movie, I can very much see why they’d leap to make this a film, (couldn’t understand the choice for many others they’ve adapted! Wing Commander?)and I’m also a bit disappointed in the doomsday device plot change. Silly. They could have made it anything, but some producer or studio head decided they needed to make it something “with more edge” hahaha.
Studios frequently change the race, or even the sex of characters to make the films more bankable. I don’t think race is an issue with this character, but keeping the sociopathic nature of the character is. I think it’s worth giving Fox a chance as he’s been praised for his work in the past. Suggesting Billy Bob made me laugh because of the interview he gave on Canadian radio which led many persons to believe he had a mental health issue, or had developed a substance-induced psychosis.
Comics and videogames are the new source for material for Hollywood so get used to it. Casting gets the audience to the theatres and the bottom line is always money.

Wow how could they cast Jamie Foxx as Lynch there is no way he can play a psychotic white guy. The game had a pretty good concept and amazing characters, but was poorly executed. Im actually looking foward to the second Kane and Lynch because the developers should know what they did wrong the first time around and make it awesome the next. If you haven’t seen the cinematic trailer for Kane and Lynch 2 I suggest you do because it is awesome.

Theyve screwed up the original storyline. They have chosen a horrible cast to play the characters (though Bruce MIGHT surprise us) and i still firmly believe that this was a poor choice of director for what the game was…Tarantino though?
