Interesting that Management 360 has just hired GQ Senior West Coast Editor Chris Huvane as a manager. This doesn’t happen often in Hollywood. Magazine types become producers, publicists, and consultants, yes. Managers? Hardly. Although Huvane probably falls more into the category of celebrity wrangler than journalist, especially given the help he’s received from his Slate PR brother Stephen and CAA partner Kevin. Recently, I checked out why 360 has been the target of agency chatter that it’s made a backroom deal to move clients to CAA, which a top exec at the management firm denied to me. (“There is no truth to it. We have important clients and important relationships at all of the major agencies, and that will continue to be the case.”) Let’s just say this hire is only going to further fuel the rumor.
“We’ve known and admired Chris for years, and have collaborated with him, first when he was a publicist, and more recently in his role at GQ,” Management 360’s partners said in a statement. “When Chris made the decision to make the transition into talent management, we were eager to have him join us as we think he will be a phenomenal manager, and we’re incredibly excited to have him be a part of our team.”
“I’ve known the partners at Management 360 for a long time, and when I decided to become a talent manager, they were the first people I turned to,” Huvane said in the statement. Chris has been an editor at GQ for 7 years, first serving as an associate editor under current editor-in-chief Jim Nelson, and then rising to West Coast Editor one year later. In 2008 he was promoted to Senior West Coast Editor. Before that, he worked for bro Stephen at HBH public relations in both Los Angeles and New York, representing clients including Julianne Moore, Billy Crudup, Matthew Broderick, Liv Tyler, Peter Berg, and Don Cheadle.

I can see this working. GQ staff know how to snag some big names, so while this never happens, I can see this working
chris wanted to be an actor but could only score uncredited parts even though his brother is kevin. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0404710/
wonder how this will turn out.
Welcome to the party pal!
I too can see this working for a million and one reasons. Huvane name being top of the list. I can also see a future company emerge – Huvane, Huvane and Huvane, one stop shopping. It’s kinda brilliant.
Oh shoot. I’m so very saddened by this news. I guess this means the world will no longer have the annual mostly-nekkid Jennifer-Aniston-whines-about-her-30-year-old-divorce issues that Chris and brothers Steven (Aniston’s publicist) and Kevin (Aniston’s agent) have colluded on over the last five years.
Bummer for Jen, huh? Okay, I know there’ve only been 2 covers, but it was two too many.
Oh well, with any luck the suckiness that is The Bounty Hunter will finally kill off what’s left of Aniston’s decidedly pathetic “movie career”. With the stinko crappage of The Bounty Hunter Aniston has just immortalized herself as The Actress With The Most Unwatchable Romcoms in the History of American Cinema. The only good news for Aniston is that Kate Hudson is 10 years her junior and thus had many years left to wrest the title from her grasp.
I know Chris from his bars and he’s a great, loyal guy. The funny part is he’s friends with Matthew Fox and my buddies at Endeavor (at the time) were in a war over Fox when he left ICM. Needless to say, Huvane handled it totally professionally and let Matthew do his thing. He signed with WME. I’m happy for him. I wonder who GQ will hire in his place?
Chris is my favorite Huvane brother and a genuine good guy. That’s a very smart hire for Management 360.
I think the proper name would be Huvane 3 (Cubed). Just sayin’
Worked with Chris recently, he is 100% management material. Who is replacing him at GQ?
I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Chris for almost ten years — as an actor, publicist and journalist. He’s not only going to make a great manager, but will do it with class and humanity. A GREAT hire by management 360. best of luck, Barnes.
So many roundly complimentary comments about Chris. I have no reason to doubt their sincerity, but it certainly begs a basic question: Are we absolutley certain his zygote was fertilized in the same womb as Stephen’s? I believe a DNA test is in order.
chris is a great person and could do this job with out any help from his family. He’s fair and knows EVERYONE. can’t wait to see what comes from this…
Ive known Chris for quite some time and can honestly say there isnt a more diligent, focused, and loyal individual in this wonderful city of ours. Chris makes an impact regardless of the forum and no doubt will continue to at 360. Keep an eye on this kid and when he surpasses his brothers remember i told you so……
Ummm…..let’s get facts straight. Chris was never a publicist. His brother Stephen got him a job at his PR firm as an assistant to one of the lesser pubs at the firm where he worked on and off for years. Mixed in with that he was aspiring to be an actor, a fireman, a DJ, a wannabee Hip Hop producer, then an actor again. None of which panned out. The brothers then got him an office window job at GQ which he mixed with ventures into nightclub promotions. Even the extent of that has been over inflated. So now the brothers have gotten him a job at 360. We’ll see how this works out.
As someone who has known Chris from the early days of HBH, you couldn’t be more wrong. I just googled him and found this article and saw this last comment. Chris ran the NY office of HBH after Billy Lazarus went to UTA. Not a publicist? Sounds like a jealous person. He actually got his job at GQ after editor Beth Altschull recruited him to GQ without his brothers even knowing about it. I should know. I shared an office with the guy. Nightclub promoter? He owns three bars in LA. Do you know the difference between owning and promoting? Hip-hop producer? HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHHAHA. Now you’re really reaching. I bet you’re an ex-girlfriend. REACHING!
