Universal won’t start production this spring on Central Intelligence, the comedy that had The Office‘s Ed Helms starring and Dean Parisot directing. Rumors raced yesterday that the film was scrapped. Insiders insist that isn’t so. I’ve learned the comedy won’t likely come before Helms reprises in The Hangover sequel, giving Universal time to sort things out.

Jesus God. This is not a star. Where are at the all time low.
Caput.
Aw c’mon .com. Uni did that so Mike could have fun with the headlines. See, back in the mid sixties to the early seventies the head of the CIA really was a man named Helms…..Richard Helms.
As for the guy who was taking a poke at Mike’s Variety-esque headlines…….I disagree. I think they’re a lot of fun.
anhonestanswer…the honest answer is that you shouldn’t post until you learn better grammar.
this guy is not a star. he works as part of a team. but then again, universal is ran by monkeys (ron meyer being the only exception).
Helms, whatevs, but love the headline!
Anhonestanswer.com (fake website as your name seems appropriate as you are a phony), who do you think you are, honestly? Your comments on this site are regularly unremarkable and boorish, never having a positive thing to say about anyone or anything. Aside from the fact that you seem to be completely illiterate grammatically speaking, your opinions are uneducated and unwarranted and only serve to make you come across like that which you most likely are: a failed, desperate and depressed writer or indie producer who has nothing better to do than troll this (admittedly wonderful) website and post unwitty snarks. Step away from the keyboard and drown your sorrows in some Kool-Aid. Ed Helms is a rising talent and star in the comedy genre, lay off.
“Comment by “Come on” — Come on is perfect name for you too, meaning, “Come on, you’re really that offended by the meaninglesss entries of “Anhonestanswer”?! You are clearly not a “rising talent” in the “comedy genre”, but instead an amateur who thinks kissing Ed Helms’ one-dimensional overrated ass will somehow help your non-existent career. Why don’t you go back to doing what you do best: Writing and pitching unreadable unfunny screenplays.
Anhonestanswer – Sorry Dude. Come On is right. You’re completely illiterate. Please at least try and form correct sentences. You come across like a moron.
“to” form correct sentences.
Anyone know what C.I. is about?
Never mind. Used the Google-force.
Everybody, enough with these negative comments. Life is too short. What did we all learn in first grade? “If you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all.”.
Cool, a W. H’wood cat fight.
It’s classified, Dude.
This is what happens when some managers produce. Someone loses, and it’s usually their clients.
Everybody, please calm down. I think we can agree Ed Helms is a product of our times. Mediocre. There are hundreds of guys like him. The bar is low. So low.
Thank you.
It’s so strange. It seemed like this movie was full steam ahead, then suddenly it stopped. Wonder why.
Anhonestanswer….unfortunately this has nothing to do with Ed Helms and everything to do with you. I like Ed Helms, I have nothing to do with Ed Helms, personally I don’t really care about this article. But it’s you who’s mediocre. Just remember, even though this site is anonymous, this is a very small industry and you should watch what you say and who you say it about.
Come on – There is nothing wrong with what I’m saying. Ed Helms is forgettable. That’s my feeling. Unfortunately in this business the truth hurts. But thanks to Nikki and this site we are given anonymity. With that comes, truth. If not for Nikki this site would be all about how great Avatar was, which we now know how people really felt. The hype told us one thing, the anonymous voters told us another. If you want to make comments on here about how Ed Helms is a rising talent so be it. But that adds nothing. Why is he a rising talent? This sites helps answer some of those questions. Connecting the dots to why some people who are mediocre rise. I’m not saying all. There are some great talents out there. But more often than not I think, we see mediocre rising today. If you think Kelly Clarkson is a talent because she sells a lot of CD’s than we will never see eye to eye. Because Kelly Clarkson is not a big talent. She is a good singer. But there are hundreds of good singers. Before there was MTV, talent had to make it on…um…talent. TMZ, Hilton etc. were just an off shoot of MTV publicity. With that came less about the talent more about the BS. To me this goes across the board. So the people we so easily call genius I don’t think are genius. Sorry, Galifinakis is not a genius. Doesn’t mean geniuses aren’t born today it’s just that not everyone is one because they are all over the internet. Back to Ed Helms…forgettable. You could interchange a hundred different comedy guys for him. That is not the mark of an original talent with a singular voice. Sean Penn is an original. He will stand the test of time. Just an example. We can apply that to music artists, novelists, TV stars, screenwriters, comics. So when you stand up for Ed Helms I say just take a step back and ask, is this great? You want a positive. The Academy got it right. Jeff Bridges won. He’s great and an original. Hurt Locker won. Not the best year for Academy movies but of the bunch it was certainly a fine choice. Polanski has still got it. Did you see Ghost Writer? Not the greatest film but the direction is masterful. It has the stamp of an artist. So did Spielberg with Jaws. As for Avatar, no. Great FX and a step forward no doubt. But as a film which must include a great story, riveting characters etc. Absolutely not. Yes, Come On, I’m keeping my bar as high as always even in mediocre times. That is America, my friend. We want the best, don’t we? So if we keep calling mediocre great we are eroding ourselves. Hoping the next Eddie Murphy, Steve Martin, Sean Penn, Beatles come along. Not Scott Storch, Lohan, Hilton. It’s just an opinion. And to me Ed Helms falls into the mediocracy of our times.
Thank you.
Thank you.
In my opinion, Helms hasn’t really had a great chance yet to show whether he’s a star or not. The Daily Show and The Office have shown that he’s funny, but, if he had come off as being a stah, babee, in either show, he would have been doing something seriously wrong.
But, anyhow: one important thing about Helms is that he’s an Upright Citizens Brigade improv school alumnus.
The UCB people are nice, sane and loyal, and my guess is that quite a few UCB alumni will do well in the next few years partly because they’re looking out for one another, and partly because they rose up so quickly that they haven’t had time to become dysfunctional burnouts.
I’ve been a fan since he was on The Daily Show, so I’m in line for whatever he does. Great actor, great guy.
Ed Helms is a conceited, unfunny dipshit who should be parking cars. The rest of you can obsess about grammar all day.His banjo sucks too.
