EXCLUSIVE: Managers Courtney Kivowitz and Christian Donatelli have jumped from Benderspink to The Schiff Company. They bring a collective client list that includes Maggie Gyllenhaal, Lucy Punch, Colin Hanks, Sissy Spacek, James Frey, Ellen Burstyn, Cheyenne Jackson, Monica Potter, Emmy Rossum and Kevin Corrigan. Kivowitz’s work with Gyllenhaal brought her into Oscar season proximity with Schiff, who manages her Crazy Heart costar Jeff Bridges. They decided to work together and since Kivowitz shares several clients with Donatelli, it was an easy fit. It’s the second recent hire profile hire after Risa Shapiro joined The Schiff Co. “With Courtney, Christian and Risa, we feel we are growing the company a smart way and deepening our resources,” Schiff said. Benderspink partners Chris Bender and JC Spink said: “We had a great run with Christian and Courtney for the last seven years and wish them the very best at their new home. We know they will be extremely successful in their future endeavors.”

Two awesome managers who would kill for their clients. Couldn’t be happier for them.
This will be a powerful move
what a loss for Benderspink… thought those guys were smarter then that. guess not.
smarter “then” that? classic.
Benderspink used to be a good place to be at. Not anymore. They lost sight of that spark that made them special when they broke from Warren Zide. They should forget management, they’re just not good with clients, and focus on Producing.
exactly.
they were always producing masquerading as managers (like so many other managers).
this is just a not so facile ruse used by all these other “management” companies to get first look and easy access to material.
obviously, C&C finally realized this and are moving to a place that really is a management company.
And to your point, JC and Chris should focus on producing. They have had and will continue have success there.
Donatelli/Kivovitz has been shopping themselves for five months. Among the passers were 360, Anonymous, The Collective, Gold/Miller, Brillstein Entertainment Partners, Principato/Young, Industry, and 3 Arts. Guess if you can’t land in the top 20 you end up in the top 30.
“the situation” must be out of work… gold/miller isn’t a mgmt company anymore and your fake name is wack.
Benderspink are a terrible management company. They started off as the Jerry Maguire of the management world and became just as vanilla and souless as most others out there. No wonder their top writers are leaving them.
Benderspink is an idea whose time has come and gone. They were once all about hip, fresh content but these days they wouldn’t know a good idea if it jumped up and bit them.
Completely agree after my experience with them
what I don’t understand is why wouldn’t they just start their own company, rather than go to Schiff?? What a lame move…leaving to go there. Huh?
And yes, agreed that BS needs to figure out the company because they just do not know how to take care of their employees, they are all miserable and undervalued. The sad part is that is exactly why they left Warren Zide–because Warren did not appreciate them so they bailed. For them to tuen around and basically mirror Warren (in the worst kind of way) is reprehensible.
Chris/JC–time to wake up guys, this is the beginning of your clients and employees walking out the door.
Big fan of the Schiff Co. Really into that Nicole Romano.
Score one for the good guys. Courtney and Christian are great people and excellent managers. They both know my life.
They wanted to be at The Collective but TC passed on them – as did a few other firms – so congrats, I guess.
Benderspunk is so whack now. They have no clue what they are doing with their clients and they are so off the radar they might as well be non-existent. They produce so many movies you’d think they could pop their clients into them. Isn’t that the point?
Schiff is moving up the ladders. Mimi Di Trani is a hustler and has a great eye for the future stars.
Benderspink has been a joke for awhile now. Good for Donatelli/Kivovitz, moving on when they did.
‘The Situation’ really has their finger on the pulse of the industry. Gold/Miller is not even a management company anymore.
He’s probably referring to Gold/Miller from Entourage. Which is a hilarious reference.
Way to keep YOUR finger on the pulse of the industry.
He is probably making a reference to Mosaic, which was founded in 1999 by talent agent/producer pair Eric Gold and Jimmy Miller – many old-timers incorrectly refer to Mosaic as Gold / Miller because that is what the fledging company was originally named.
Benderspink bashing? Don’t mind if I do.
Chris and JC were once two smart, thoughtful, and intuitive managers who worked closely with their clients (even inspired them at times). That was a looooooong time ago. You guys need a massive overhaul. Times are a changing. Toss out dead weight like Charlie G. and recruit some hungry young managers who actually have a pulse and actually WORK for their clients.
anyone have the scoop on how sweet the deal schiff made with them? why wouldn’t they go on their own?
Gogolak is still in the business? He hasn’t been relevant since 2000.
Good for C&C. Nice move. Schiff is building a strong unique team.
Christian is a shark, and I mean that in the best possible way. Great guy to have on your side.
