On his first night back as host of The Tonight Show, Jay Leno said Sarah Palin “has never been on a late night show”. Wrong! She was on Conan’s Tonight Show on December 11, 2009. Palin will be a guest on Jay’s show Tuesday up against Mitt Romney on David Letterman’s Late Show. This b.s. folows NBC removing from Hulu and NBC websites every single Tonight Show that Conan hosted.

That cad!
How is Palin a good get? She says outrageous things, but generally only bores and depresses me when I hear her speak. She’s a ninny. Takes offense to many jokes and lets others slide for expediency. Don’t know that I’ve ever seen her actually laugh. Curious.
Oh, this is priceless. For god’s sake, it was less than a year ago, you’d think someone would’ve noticed.
Then again, I’m pretty sure no one at NBC actually watches The Tonight Show. (And with Leno back, can you really blame them for that? *YAWN*)
Strangely enough…there is a framed poster of “The Tonight Show With Conan O’Brien” in the lobby @ the Burbank Lot.
Saying it that way, he sure IS wrong — although he may have meant, as an interview subject, since she was really just doing a cameo appearance that time. And, as many consider Saturday Night Live to be a “late night show” as well (note the missing word “talk”) — that includes yet another late night appearance for her there, too.
Did you expect NBC to keep Conan in the public’s eye? And let’s please set the record straight: ay Leno does NOT dictate NBC programming policy and never has, so the whole Leno/Conan debacle is NOT leno’s fault. It’s the fault of those executive suits at NBC that thought Conan could keep the ratings Leno had and Jay could work in prime-time.
We know now, neither happened. Conan NEVER beat Letterman, and his audience was half of what The Tonight Show had when Leno was host. How long did you think NBC was going to let that continue? With revenues from their late-night franchises declining, it didn’t take a genius to see NBC was going to do something right quick.
It was NOT Leno’s decision to hand the Tonight Show over to Conan, and it was NOT his idea to move to 10 pm. It was all concocted by NBC programming suits.
Since the late night debacle started, I love how people are all of a sudden so interested in Conan O’Brien. Nobody could give a crap about him before NBC decided to replace him, hence his low Tonight Show ratings. Now, Conan is the “hip” thing. So, we have the media, yet again, trying to stir something up out of nothing. Trying, yet again, to support Conan and not Leno. Palin was on Conan, but not as a sit down guest, which is what she will be on Leno. Why, why, why must the media, which includes you Finke, try to stir something up out of nothing?
He meant as a guest! How hard is that to figure out? she was a bit part of a bit part with Shatner. She was not a guest. Does everyone go to the TMZ/The Star school of headline hype?
Anyone who actually saw Coco’s version of The Tonight Show would have to agree that it was not a show.
In Jay’s defense, it’s not ENTIRELY his fault for saying something incorrectly. It’s NBC’s fault. No wait, it’s the affilliates’ fault. No no, it’s Nielsen’s fault. But not Jay’s. He was just saying what he was told. According to him, everyone else BUT him has control of what he says/does, so how can you blame him – the self-proclaimed puppet?
Typical. Leno’s so pathologically self-centered that he doesn’t care, though. Palin’s appearance with William Shatner in TScCOB was really funny and was replayed everywhere in the media. No way this is an accident.
They should he stole 35 million dollars from them, who failed at a job and still expects a BONUS or should we call it extortion to leave, so Jay could rescue The Tonight Show.
She should have wrote that info on her paw.
Conan? Who was he, some sort of a stand-up guy or something??
No, NBC taking Conan offline is one thing, but I don’t think there was any ulterior motive behind last night’s comment. Jay was simply pointing out that she has never agreed to be interviewed by her harshest critics- late night tv hosts.
It actually took me a minute to remember which previous appearance you were referring to. I had forgotten all about her brief walk-on during Conan’s monologue. I’m sure most people probably have.
It’s sad that NBC doesn’t fully respect its own history…
man another reason to hate this dumbass …. Conan where are you?!
You know what he meant. Don’t be disingenuous.
Can we erase all evidence of Jeff Zucker ever being head of NBCUni?????
If Leno is so much better.
Then why can’t they let Conan’s work stay on the internet?
It seems like it could justify their decision. See look, Conan does physical, self-depreciating comedy…..that is so last century.
While Jay makes fun of stupid people and sits behind his desk like a pro.
