To be fair, does anybody like to pay commissions?
Did PTA just realize this? And did Fogelman/Simpson/Newman/Ari do anything to save this? Any word on who at CAA he went to? Craig Gering? John Campisi? Doc? Lourd?
Love the spin…
In reality not having a real feature agent like John Lesher to hand-hold is the problem.
jeez, if CAA aren’t charging commissions, maybe *I* should jump too
Two things: first, I thought PTA left Endeavor a couple of years ago, did he return? Second, do they not charge commissions at CAA?
How will that work any different at CAA?
What’s that you say, Nikki? That’s P.T.A. DOESN’T enjoy giving away ten percent of his income to his reps? Hmmm. Interesting. Verrrry interesting.
Seriously, Nikki. Are we to assume from this report that CAA is agreeing to wave all of their future commissions for this dude?
Why, pray tell, would they do that?
CAA doesn’t charge commission? What would be the upside for them? What a horrible, horrible WME spin. They blow.
Me neither. Or taxes. Or anything really. I like things free.
fair enough
Is it just me or is Donnelly hemorrhaging Leshers old clients… Where is Lesher?
aren’t they all 10%?
people generally take superlatives lightly, but i think pta is one of the most brilliant people working in the industry today. can’t imagine agents and him see eye to eye on anything, wondering if maybe wme couldn’t get the legs his next project needed?
When the real money starts to be made…some clients (not all) resent remunerating their agents who have worked so hard for years on their behalf. Not all agents earn their commission but quite a few do…it is business after all.
lol… who does? Unfortunate for WME, CAA picked up a really talented guy.
who does?
What, he won’t pay commission at CAA?
Agents are that unnecessary evil that exists because all of us who really makes it happen, are lazy to take our affairs into out own hands. Imagine if they disappear, nothing will change, only better movies will be made.
Um… nobody likes to pay commission.
This actually surprises me. He’s been recognized by the Academy, and seems to be able to bring a lot of major players together.
And CAA doesn’t take commissions??? Huh?
Ow.
It’s ‘artists’ like PTA that think they do it ALL BY THEMSELVES. U can say whatever U want about these agencies – and agents in general, but they hustle so these very same artists can realize THEIR DREAMS. Shame on any of U “talent” that feel U can avoid paying commissions!
No one likes to pay commission, why are you trying downplay this? Paul Thomas Anderson left Endeavor for William Morris last year, and now that he is back at Endeavor by default, he left them again.
So CAA will be working pro bono?
He is the best director working right now.
