Production begins this week in Arizona on Everything Must Go, a drama that marks the directing debut of writer Dan Rush. Will Ferrell, Rebecca Hall, Michael Pena will star with Christopher Wallace (son of hip hop icon Notorious B.I.G.), and Laura Dern is negotiating. 
Worth noting is that this project became a reality when its producers–Temple Hill partners and Twilight producers Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey–committed to put up the equity financing themselves. Rush based the script on a Raymond Carver short story, with Ferrell playing a recovering alcoholic who relapses on a business trip, gets fired from his job, and thrown out by his angry wife. When she deposits his belongings on the lawn, he vows to live on the lawn until he can sell everything. Stuart Ford’s IM Global is brokering offshore territories and ICM/CAA will sell domestic rights. An under $10 million film with that cast seems a manageable risk.

This was a smart move. Keep the cost low, and then it should make back it’s money 1-2 weeks after the release date
Another smart move by Bowen/Godfrey – they clearly have the nose for under-the-radar projects that surprise everyone.
You made me laugh A LOT. These guys made THE NATIVITY which helped crash New Line. Losers one and all.
Just reign Will in and don’t let his managers near the set and everything will be fine.
Ferrell’s going to need something to recover his box office standing after Land of the Lost pretty much wrecked his standing as a comedy star. The film’s box office appeal maybe limited, odd are it’s not going to be a blockbuster, but if the critical notices are good it could revive injured Ferrell’s career.
Don’t forget “Wedding Crashers”…
This was an awewome Black list script. Cool cast. I hope Ferrell can pull this part off. Could be funny/sad.

I like the project but Michael Pena is the world’s most boring actor…great script…too bad they couldn’t get another great actor out there to go toe to toe with Will
Er, you obviously didn’t see Crash. Michael Pena has one of my top 10 scenes of all time in that movie. Sublime.

I thought the script was above average, but not “great.” I’m surprised they are letting the first-time screenwriter also be the first-time director on this.
last time ferrel tried to “stretch” was ‘stranger than fiction’ — didn’t work — he should stick to the goofy and funny.

I would like to ban Will Ferrel from making movies and he
dosen’t deserve , the rights as a normal person the real
reason why is that he dose not care about making movies .
All that he cares about is himshelf , maybe he might of
felt that he was second bananna on “Saturday Night Live”
and he was only good on “Saturday Night Live” it was
only eought for me at the time , and he only cares
about the money side of filmmaking , the guy is a real
dick and a real asshole .
When Will ferrel started making movies I really thought,
I thought and had wished he should of made serious
movies , but he didn’t .
He is as bad as “Adam Sladler” but Adam has a cult
following , and Will dosed . Can Will sing and dance
and chew gum , no he can’t Adam on the other hand can
do more and make you actually laugh .
The real reason why that I am saying this , is because
it is very true , and I have seen how “WIll Ferrel”
treat’s his cast , and its not a pretty site at all, he
is very cruel and has a very pissed off mind , he has
so much arrogance towards all the special effect people
and everyone on the set , he dosen’t care for no one but
for himshelf and why should anyone want to be around him
at all , he really dosen’t have many friends at all and
there are very few friends that he actually has, and it
only be that few that know him personally , the guy
can’t act at all , he is a real jerk in real life and
I really know this, he is not kind towards people with
“Down Syndrome” at all, and the guy can’t really act
at all , he is a real jerk , and I really don’t care
what happen’s to him or his damned career , the guy
should find a real job and stay with it, he can go to
hell and I can care less about his rats ass .
The guy is a real asshole , why was he born
in the first place , I hope he’ll burn in
hell as he should as he is .

Great script, but audiences are tired of Will Ferrell and nobody wants to see him in a small drama. Anyone remember STRANGER THAN FICTION? Another hyped script with a major Will Ferrell miscast and miss.
On another note, Wyck and Godfrey had nothing to do with Twlight except for being kissed in on that. The real producer on that movie is anyone besides Temple Hill and everyone in town knows it.

The script was a fun read – but the movie has no mass appeal whatsoever. If the budget is ten million it should make it’s money back though. Don’t see it being a blockbuster by any means.
