Talent poaching is in high gear at the agencies. Rosario Dawson is the latest actress to change agency addresses. The Sin City star has just moved from ICM to CAA, the agency that just signed Renee Zellweger from WME. Just seen in Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief, Dawson wrapped the Frank Coraci-directed MGM comedy The Zookeeper, and the Tony Scott-directed Unstoppable with Denzel Washington and Chris Pine at Fox.

If she has all these movies coming out why did she change agents? Seems like her agent was doing a good job for her. Right?
she’s a very pretty, talented girl — no matter who represents her, she’ll do well I’m sure.
i mean she is talented but this is pretty lame for CAA to put out this headline to bump the Spielberg one today.
This is actually old news. The Spielberg get was much bigger news today. CAA always tries to win with quantity, but WME gets the quality clients.
I hate negative posting, so I will just that you, it may be time to consider a hobby.
Wow, two meaningless signings….
Everyone knows Eddy Yablans has only one client that he cares about, and that’s Ellen. I’m surprised it took Rosario this long to figure him out. Trust me I know.
Wow. Your ignorance is astounding. He has one client like you have a hole in your head. Well, actually, the latter might be true. Why don’t you comment on what you know, which is obviously nothing about ICM and Eddy Yablan’s business.
Really dumb move by Rosario. Her agent at ICM is one of the best, if not the best, in the business. Just look at the films she’s been involved with and the actors she’s shared the screen with the past few years.
Eddy Yablans is a fantastic agent. He works hard and gets results.
good for her. Dawson is gorgeous, talented, and poised. She should be getting juicy parts instead of lame girlfriend roles. She was an it girl for a minute, but these days they’re hiding her in the trailer. Did anyone even know she was in Eagle Eye or Percy Jackson?
Eddy and everyone else at ICM did a great job for her. I think it’s just a sad state of the business. There is not enough to go around and this has nothing to do with ICM. She will find out soon enough. So will Renee, Halle and the rest of two dozen a list unemployed actresses at CAA. All over 40 and not working! I personally do not understand how CAA can stand those nagging annoying phone calls. I would rather dig ditches on the 405!!
Grab me a shovel too. At least it’s a honest day’s work.
Rosario’s success to date has everything to do with her manager Evan Hainey and nothing to do with Yablans.
The only thing worse than Evan Hainey’s tie collection is his handling of this client and her expectations (unrealistic). Vegas odds are even money that she will be back with Eddy and ICM by year’s end.
she’s very pretty. but in every film she’s in, she’s sort of forgettable. how many people remember she was in men in black? she should blame her publicist (if she even has one), not her agent. maybe she’s pissed off she missed out on avatar.
I agree she’s very pretty, and is a fine actress, but not a great one. I think what we’ve seen is as good as it gets. She’ll work plenty, though.
Why use of “poaching”? RD left ICM weeks before she chose CAA.
Sometimes I think CAA is just into stealing, period. Almost like it hardly matters who they steal – they just HAVE TO. They are like the kleptos of repping.
CAA has been racking up clients lately, but everyone is right the Spielberg signing is much bigger news.
Did anyone really disagree on that? Has Dawson ever been the center of a marketing campaign for a film other than the DTV “Descent”?
her problem is that eva and for some degree michele feel the same box. we’ll see if this changes anything.
Q: How do you spell “goodbye” at ICM
A: C-A-A
Q: How do you spell “client” at CAA?
A: U-N-E-M-P-L-O-Y-E-D
Q: What’s a commonly used phrase for talent at CAA?
A: “Who are you, again?”
Q: What is Kevin Huvane and Bryan Lourd’s client philosophy at CAA?
A: Same as the Statue of Liberty: Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses…
I’m here all week folks. Have a good one.
I like what I’ve seen her in and am confused why she hasn’t taken on more significant roles in the films she’s been in. A texan’s perspective.
I was wondering where she had been. I hadn’t heard anything from her in a long, long time (at least it felt that way)
