Susan Rovner has been upped to executive vice president of development at Warner Bros Television, and will oversee both the drama and comedy development teams. Rovner, who has spent 11 years at the studio, takes the place of Leonard Goldstein, who left to join Fake Empire partners Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage. Rovner had been senior vice president of drama development, working on the development of such series as The Mentalist, Fringe, The Closer, The Vampire Diaries and most recently Human Target. “Susan is one of the finest development executives in our business, a highly talented collaborator with impeccable taste in material and a breadth and depth of relationships with top creative talent,” said Warner Bros Television president Peter Roth.

One of the few execs that has been around for awhile who actually knows what they are doing. Smart move by Peter Roth.
Ditto. She is the bomb.
Fantastic executive and nice woman, they’re lucky to have her.
Susan is a terrific executive. A total pro. I’ve had the privilege of working with her a number of times, and it is always a pleasure.
A well-deserved promotion. Congrats.
It’s about time!
I’ve been lucky enough to work with Susan on numerous projects over the year. I’ve always wondered why this woman is not running a studio. I’m glad to see she’s finally on her way.
I hope she runs a studio one day. Fair, smart, kind, tough, and a champion of story — gotta love Susan Rovner.
best exec out there. long time coming.
I had the pleasure of working with Susan for several years, and she has more than earned this promotion–hell, she earned it five or six years ago. It’s a no-brainer. Brava!
Susan Rovner is simply the best. No one compares to her in terms of everything!!!! Peter Roth did good moving her up to where she belongs.
Congrats Susan!
Congratulations, Susan! No one does it better.
SR,
You have come a long time since making those airplane disaster films!!! Who could forget the one where the rooftop of the plane came flying off, and the passengers had to suffer all the way to Hawaii. In a way, you predicted LOST.
You are the secret behind their success. Truly. You know i know that. And now the world knows it.
So, get prepared for all the ‘math’ that comes with this job, and look out for the vampire down the hall.
Go get em.
Once you work with Susan it is hard to work with anyone else. She is that good. Congrats! Well deserved.
A really nice human being who knows what she’s doing both creatively. Yea! Every once in a while the good guys win.
Finally! Susan is one of the best of the best. Exquisite taste and a keen judge of talent and character. Yay Susan!
No one has more fans out there. There are bunches of agents, writers and other execs. willing to buy her shoes. Now that’s a compliment.
Have never met Susan. Based on the reaction to her promotion she must be, not only been a very talented executive, but also a nice human being. Hard to find that combination in this town. Congrats and hope our paths cross somewhere down the road.
Man, all these raves! DHD has become Hollywood’s karma delivery machine.
That’s awesome!
Did a pilot with her. She is truly the best in the business. Couldn’t happen to a better person. Rock on!
Congrats to Susan. Well deserved. I went to college with Susan and worked with her when I was a screenwriter before I became a tv exec and producer. She was great to work with and very supportive. So happy to see her shine!
Dancing for joy! She got the job she deserved. Peter Roth must have found his conscience. Smart, tough, warm, supportive, articulate…Susan Rovner brings out the absolute best in everyone.
I wish the business could clone her. Congrats Susan! You are loved!
Susan is AAAAAAMAZING. Loves it!
This might be a record. Not a single hater posting on here.
SHE SUCKS!!!
Hah jk… it was just too pleasant on here to be DHD.
Congrats to Susan!
I have an upcoming meeting with Susan. Never meet her. but from what i hear… the best.
Congrats.
Congrats Susan, so well deserved and earned ten times over. I heard that Simon Baker will be jumping shirtless out of the cake at the celebration party. Cheers.
Is it possible that we have an executive who is as teflon as the greats? Of course not. I appreciate the fact that there’s a lot of love out there, but I have to say, she’s one of them most mediocre and presumptive executives I’ve ever worked with. If you don’t GET along, you have to GO along and that means you are cold shouldered. It was Len’s way too and she learned everything from him. ‘A’ list deals are easy to service because you just have to get out of the way, but what material did she really champion from someone she discoverd? And BTW, Nip/Tuck? Are you kidding? Tell Kevin Reilly and the FX crew at the time about Susan Rovner’s involvement. A little levity folks.
Cold shoulder is the Peter Roth way of doing business. He freezes people out when he’s made a mistake. Or they have failed to kiss the ring. Len and Susan learned that from him. It is the WBTV way. Thin skinned to the core and always hold a grudge. Those hugs can be lethal.
That said Susan is fantastic in that she does champion creatives and she is open to a lot of back and forth. She also loves talent of any background… unlike Peter and Len who only seem comfortable working with white, straight males.
I love doing business with her and so do my clients. Even when a project fails they are glad to have worked with her. That simply doesn’t happen with any other exec in town.
