A multi-year deal with Queen Latifah’s Flavor Unit Entertainment and the official greenlight of original episodes of The Game highlight BET’s upfront presentation in New York tonight. Both are part of the cable network’s new push in scripted television. Under the deal with Flavor Unit, the company has come on board to produce its first scripted comedy project, Let’s Stay Together. Written and exec produced by Jacque Edmonds Cofer, the romantic comedy starring Malinda Williams and Bert Belasco has been picked up to series to launch in Q1 2011. Flavor Unit will also produce the telefilm The Cookout 2, a sequel to the feature The Cookout. The Game, created by Mara Brock Akil, is slated for Q4 2011. BET’s only previous stab at launching an original scripted series was the 2008 comedy Somebodies, which ran for a season.
At its presentation, BET will also announce two new unscripted series: a dance competition series starring choreographer and principal dancer Laurieann Gibson slated for Q3 2011 and The Kennedys, about skateboarder Terry Kennedy and his family, as well as news programs and specials fronted by Ed Gordon, a slew of new music and programming specials and a partnership with Black Girls Rock, for its first-ever televised Black Girls Rock Awards.

@steve, q1,q2,q3 and q4 represent quarters and each quarter stand for a 3 month which will equal a year.
I think eveyone trying to explain when the 4th quater is to steve, is missing the point. Why would it take over a year to get start airing new episodes for an already estabished show?

Someone should mention that reruns of The Game on BET get better ratings that original episodes of the teen bullshit that the CW runs. Somehow they keep shoveling money into those shows because they have “buzz” with their 12 year old daughters. I guess it isn’t always about ratings.

I totally agree. I understand BETs push to contimue The Game but by the time they air it the audience will be gone. Also, for the persons who watched before they will definately need catching up on what happened from 2.5yrs ago.
The Cookout? They need to keep that locked up…..that movie was a waste of my time…But The Game, now thats whats up! I love The Game and I have been missing it since the last show ran on WGN. I hope they still have the same cast and that baby turns out not to be his….OMG!!!!! I can’t wait. But why is it gonna take over a year to run? Now thats some more B.S
BET is waiting too long to add New episodes of The GAME. Why Can’t they put on shows that make sense to the average TV watcher. They are killing me with ALL these re-runs!

Im actually surprised that people dont know that companies break down there fiscal year into quarters and use that to let everyone know when they are doing something. But Patrick I agree with you waiting a year and a half is a bad move on their part because I just started watching it like 5 months ago and IDK if I will wait that long for it to start new shows. But maybe I will cause I’m still waiting on them to start the new episodes of the Boondocks

I am very happy that the Game will come back but I agree that 2011 is just TOOOOOO long from now!!!!! And they will definitely have to bring the same cast or it will not work. I wish they would bump up the season 4 debut!!! Please bring it back sooner!!!

BET should bring “The Game” back ASAP. It was a great comedy-drama and I still watch the reruns. If they wait for a year and a half I know for a fact they will lose their viewing audience, and also please try to get all of the original cast members back including Mr Fine- Rick Fox
I’ve been going back and forth with a lot of my listeners over the past 3 months that “the game” should be back on television..
i know its content may go a little far on what could truly be happening in pro sports(especially football),but,i hope some of the cast comes back and they have an even better set of characters and storyline..
