I’ve exclusively obtained the letter (below) that went out today from the Producers Guild to Millennium Films’ Avi Lerner and Danny Dimbort about Dimbort’s teenaged granddaughter possibly receiving a producers credit on the upcoming film Solitary Man — and why that’s a violation of the PGA rules. The Producers Guild told me it does not comment on its private communications to members or on the specifics of a particular arbitration or arbitration issue. But, trust me, this letter is genuine.

isn’t the term “professional producer” an oxymoron?
here here.
Dana is in high school. Of course she didn’t serve a traditional producer function. And someone thinks a silverspoon granddaughter needs producer credits to get into college? Not in this town. If you trace some of the rumor headlines on these guys maybe this has something to do with the inner-turmoil that was reported a few months ago about Dimbort leaving the office for a few months because of differences with Avi? One guy wants one person listed. One guy wants another. I would guess it’s all because they are getting old and stubborn. They’re Jews for Christ’s sake. One thing is for sure, these guys make movies. Tons of movies. Weird choices now. Linda Lovelace story and Labor Pains? From the guys who brought you Rambo 4 and 5? With tons of producers listed – no less than five on any given movie. So you can safely assume somebody is sleeping with somebody (actress turned producer), someone’s getting paid (track record), someones getting handshaked (wheel and deal), some are getting hooked up (it runs in the family). And some are working their ass off.
Producers. Some do everything. Some do nothing. This is Hollywood. This is America. THIS IS SPARTA!!
Sometimes it’s better to give credit to teenage grandaughters rather than stupid mistresses that pretend to be producers.
Avi was sitting courtside at the Staples and he has not time for answeringg memos!
Let me get this straight: Is this what they call “intellectual property development”? And, is the granddaughter becoming the intellectual property?
I love this collaboration thing.
Let’s not make you “producers” the bad guys in all this. This is a group effort, focused on reaching maximum quality badness. Let’s face it: If all of you high rollers et.al had to pay restitution to the original owners of all of the property that you have taken credit for over the last century, 99% of you would be members of your guilds in bad standing.
Let his granddaughter get credit for doing nothing. If she’s smart, she’ll bounce her tush off the flame and start to sincerely learn a craft worth understanding; FILM MAKING! so she can prove all of you wrong. That’s her mission in life now, to tell you all to mind your own business and don’t depend on graphic credit for reputation, especially when most of you idiots have nothing to do with why a show is good and so much more to do with why it’s not.
How dare you complain about solidarity when you did nothing to rescue the rest of the industry from being consumed by inexperienced button pushing high school kids, that you hired.
Hey, wait! these are the same button pushing kids that are making block busting movies for under $2 million, with stars and talent.
AND VIVA DEADLINE (AND OTHERS) FOR HAVING THE BALLS TO LET US VENT.
There but for the grace of God go I
Really? On Facebook: “Katzanelson High School ’10″…. “oh, and I produced a big Hollywood movie with some, like actor people and this really neat director guy… thank goodness Grandpa helped me get that job!!! U can’t believe how much FUN it is to be a producer! OMG!!! This is better than IHOP on a Saturday morning!!!!”"
