EXCLUSIVE: In a last-minute recasting, Sara Fletcher has been tapped as the female lead on Josh Schwartz’s comedy pilot for CBS Hitched. 
Fletcher replaces Smallville alumna Kristin Kreuk, who was originally cast in the role. The switch was made Wednesday, just before the multicamera pilot’s table read. Kreuk starred on two drama series, including her star-making turn on Smallville, and she was wonderful in an arc on Schwartz’s NBC dramedy Chuck this season but she has never done a half-hour sitcom, which requires very particular skills and comedic timing. Ultimately, Hitched proved not a good fit for her. The pilot, which Schwartz co-wrote with Matt Miller, centers on a newlywed couple, Rachel (Fletcher) and Brett (Jack Carpenter), dealing with their family and friends. The cast of Hitched also include comedy veterans Eugene Levy, Kurtwood Smith and Sharon Lawrence as the couple’s parents. Fletcher, who starred on Comedy Central’s My Secret Girlfriend, is with Gersh and Schachter Entertainment.

I’m disappointed that Kristin is out of Hitched. But it’s better to find out now that she wasn’t right for the part than later on. She’ll find another role that’s right for her because she’s a talented actress. She was the only reason to watch Smallville for years. CBS you just lost another potential viewer.

I love love love Sara Fletcher! KK has a nice cult following so that will hurt the show. I think Sara is more talented than KK, just not as recognizeable at this point in her career.

In this economic climate, nobody,from talent to crew leaves a gig for “creative differences” unless you’re a rich, drug addicted nut like Sheen.

They are making a huge mistake pulling of Kristin Kreuk from their new sincom show. She is the amazing actress and I know the show may do well on air if Kristin is in it. Now, they switched her for someone else, the show will not last long. Sucks!!!
kk is a bad actress. she is the girlfriend, not the lead. she is a show killer just like alyssa milano, Lindsay Price, and there are some others. the shows they are, were, and will be on have been cancelled. with a simple cast adjustment those shows would still be on.
Well that makes no sense whatsoever because she was on a show for 7 seasons and left on her own terms.
Online she may have a lot hate from the fanbase of a show like Smallville, but conversley she had a positive run on Chuck and the ratings went up on there.
Can’t blame the new blond. Not her fault. This recasting happens quite a bit. Luckily she didn’t film the pilot only to be told later and have her scenes refilmed. Kristen will bounce back with something else and be great.
Yeah, look what happened with Parenthood. Maura Tierney filmed the pilot, and they even aired some commercials with her in it a few months before the season premier. Then, all of a sudden, the same commercials had Lauren Graham as Tierney’s character.
I had never seen her until CHUCK and now I am hooked. I will watch anything she is in… I even watched that terrible martial arts movie she was in just because of her (I have no idea what happened in the movie). So, I was very much looking forward to seeing her on this show. Now I will militantly avoid it.

Sucks for Kristin but at least now I won’t have to watch this show that I had no interest in other than her. And that’s if it even gets picked up.
It is CBS’s loss. Kristin is a draw……she is different, beautiful and talented. I feel confident that Kristin has captured more than one producer’s eye and we will see her on the screen again soon. Good Luck Kristin! HITCHED……….take a hike!

Wy doesn’t everyone get the stick out of their ass and give the girl a shot. She is a no name that will come to fruition. She is so right for the part. Dude, the pilot hasn’t even come out yet…shame on all of you!!
Trying to be righteous in the game of show business is HIlarious, lol. But props to you. I’m sure she’s probably better if they decided to recast. But you got to be pretty naive to come and ask us why we’re all bonkers over it. Because Kristin has fans and we had been looking forward to this. Did you think recasting her was gonna get a warm welcome?!
The script was a piece of crap anyway. I read it and was floored that it was even being made. The show will be DOA.

Sitcoms are a different animal than movies and hour long dramedies (including Chuck) I could see that it may not have been working out. Though I will say that recasting DAYS before the shoot began sucks. It is the nature of the business, though. She’ll find work quick, mark my words. I am willing to give the show a chance, though.

I thought out of the gate that KK was TOO attractive for the male lead, because after watching Chuck, I know she can be funny.
It went from Hitched, to Ditched, and Pitched (and SWING). Bad call from whomever is in charge.
Sara Fletcher for this is a total win for comedy.
All I can say is that without Kristin Kruek, this new sitcom is going to be sucks. Kristin is a good actress. She was really awesome on Chuck and she also brought the ratings up on the show. It’s a big mistake switching the female lead role.

Mrs. Fletcher, really? the best? im so happy for the money your daughter will get for the pilot, but the only chance you have of seeing this will be if Sara sends you a dvd to play on the tv on top of your other tv
