(SAINT PAUL, Minn.) On August 10, Garrison Keillor’s A Prairie Home Companion “Summer Love” Tour kicks off a 25-city run that will take the popular radio host and his pals from East Coast to West Coast, Texas to Minnesota.
This concert tour on the everlasting theme of romantic love will be jam-packed with tender duets and ballads, poetry (Poe, Shakespeare, Anonymous), and stories of passion and marriage — not to mention Mr. Keillor’s intermission walk through the audience for the sing-along of “Unchained Melody” and “Can’t Help Falling in Love with You.”
While these are not APHC broadcast shows, they will include many favorite Prairie Home Companion elements — Guy Noir, Dusty and Lefty, and the News from Lake Wobegon. Nickel Creek’s Sara Watkins will be on hand, as will sound-effects man Fred Newman and the Guy’s All-Star Shoe Band.

Interesting that he almost is playing both the West and East coasts, and very little in between. I am kinda surprised he isn’t playing any Canadian dates..The Canadian economy is humming right along and one would think he would have a ready audience in parts of Canada.
I care about this why? No posts about the circus coming to town (or, actually, as I look at the PHC schedule, NOT coming to town)?
Being LA based, I’m upset that APHC won’t be at the Greek Theater or Hollywood Bowl this year. I will travel south to SD or north to Eugene to catch this not-to-be-missed event!
I take it the actualy Prairie Home Companion show will be coming through L.A. as always this year. This is a separate tour, almost like a Garrison solo act.
John,
I looked at the site and didn’t see an LA stop (even for the regular tour). Do you see otherwise?
Looking forward to his visit in Cary, NC. Long time “fan”.
Former Minnesotan w/family still residing there.
When will tickets be on sale? Hope to fine them available.
FYI Cary is the “Containment Area for Relocated Yankies”
Thanks in advance, Jean
Everyone should be happy that APHC is still up and running. Did everyone forget that Garrison had a stroke this past spring? Please be thankful, not mad that he skipped your town!
Saw the concert in Knoxville last night and it did not disappoint. In fact, Sara and Garrison were amazing and Fred was remarkable as always. If it’s coming to your town, don’t miss it, but they are almost out of T-shirt.
When’s the last time we EVER sang love songs outside on a summer night? Charlottesville was LOVELY! Thank you so much!! Great show!!
