Warner Bros and CBS think it’s just a negotiating ploy because his contract ends this season, which is the hit sitcom’s 7th year. But Warner Bros has a contract with CBS that goes for another 2 years. And neither the studio nor the network want the consistent Top 10 (and often Top 5) rated show to lose its bad boy star or go off the air. So Charlie Sheen is sitting in the proverbial catbird seat — if he wants to continue on Two And A Half Men. Which today is a big if. People broke the story today that Sheen is telling friends he’s “just done” and won’t do another season on the show. “Charlie is aware of what the friends said about him, and he hasn’t called his publicist to deny it,” an insider tells me. “But this has to reach some resolution soon or else the show is ‘One And A Half Men’”.
“This was news to us,” a CBS source tells me. “He has been negotiating a new deal with Warner Bros which produces the show. But, he hasn’t quit to the studio or the producers. So, this very well could be a negotiating tactic.” Inside Warner Bros, the bigwigs there think it’s all negotiation, too. I’m told that Warner Bros last month put a “nice offer” on the table for Sheen to continue for another 2 years: more than $1 million per episode. He’s already the highest paid actor per episode on television but he has no equity position in the show. On the other hand, Warner Bros sealed a fat syndication deal with FX that starts in September. So no one has to take up a collection for Charlie if he quits the show this month.
Sheen has been shooting Two And A Half Men even though he checked into Malibu Promises for rehab on February 24th and remains there even now. Tonight, Sheen et al are completing the series’ 21st episode and are contractually supposed to do 24 total to finish out this season. “But if everyone agrees to do 22 episodes, then that’s it,” the insider told me. Meanwhile, Charlie gets out of rehab next week.
By the way, remember when WME and Sheen last October parted ways after he asked his entire entertainment team to cut commissions, and the actor was supposedly heading to CAA? He never landed.

Can someone please explain to me why he gets paid so much to do this show?
It’s the highest rated sitcom on TV right now.
Pay attention.
Because people seem to really love mediocrity – and he gets paid handsomely to be the face of it.
I guess my question should have been Why does this show do so well? It does seem to me to be just another medicore show.
yeah, wake up and smell the money numb chucks.
Charlie,
whatever happens with rehab (we all have issues) (even the bs ers who say they dont) (usually the worst) )Charlie I’ve been watching you for years – you are one fantastic comedic actor – I have never laughed so much with anyone – you rival Dana Carvey another all time fav. So – good luck – get better and keep – keepin on 2.5 men is hilarious We love it – period…..
good job,
Jon
“laughter is a tonic – in this earth – in these times – how can you live without it”
Charlie has points in 2.5 men….I believe he has a least 5 points….People had to reduce their points to give them to charlie when he made his deal…
April Fools Day?
If not, his health (mental and physical) is more important than the money. Get straightened out and return when ready
In the meantime, would they cancel or find a replacement? There are likely many willing to try to fill his shoes.
how does anyone like this person? the studio has been fairly flexible with this guys rehabs/arrests and now he’s holding them over a barrel? what a d-bag
If this show does get killed, it will be euthanasia. A rip-off of “The Odd Couple,” with a kid and fart jokes. Charlie Sheen plays the same obnoxious jackass he is in real life. It’s a testament to the lack of taste of the television audience.
Stick a stake through its heart.
Uh, to answer the questions about why they pay him so much and why they tolerate his issues, it’s because they’re making A LOT OF MONEY ON THIS SHOW! What’s so hard to get? It’s a top rated show, does well in syndication, and like him or not, he’s a vital part of the formula. I hope he – and Cryer – do have points. I’d be shocked if Sheen did not.
As for him, I’d think he’d be nuts to walk away now, but this is probably a negotiating tactic. I hope for the rest of the cast and crew, there’s another two years in this.
It’s the only TV I watch but you gotta see that Sheen is a trainwreck who is going to drag everybody down with him. He’s at a point where he has to be watched like a week old infant and you can’t run a huge operation like ‘THM’ under those conditions. Cryer can definitely carry the show and there are thousands of actor who can do the second banana role.
This is the only TV you watch? Time to pass the remote to your wife, pal.
something tells me that he’s not married.
A couple of years ago, I was talking with friends and someone mentioned 2HM. I said I jnew no-one who watched that show, didn’t understand the appeal, why the big bucks to Sheen, etc. All agreed. We couldn’t see what anyone saw in that junk.
Guess in desperate times, some people will accept any shit offered.
Is the set tense? With all of the drama going on, I can’t imagine it’s a happy work environment
It’s pretty ballsy when you have been indicted for beating the crap out of your wife–and therefore becoming a felon–to negotiate a huge payday.
Charlie’s great on 2.5 Men and it is funny show. But how much is too much? This is Hollywood and nobody really cares about the character of its characters, as long as they are making money for the studios, agents, producers, et al.
Wow. Makes me really admire Keifer Sutherland (wasn’t he into drugs once upon a time) and even Robert Downey Jr. for staying sober.
If Charlie left, wouldn’t it be 1 3/4ths Men?
Don’t care, don’t watch (though wonder if Warner or CBS but aside money to pay for bail like they did for his dad during West Wing) I’ll still with Big Bang Theory (and maybe get back to HIMYM someday soon (too busy watching Chuck))
It’s clearly a negotiating ploy, because let’s face it: as loveable as Charlie is, he would not earn $23M+/year doing movies. I happen to love the show and would love to see it continue. I cannot imagine it without Charlie, but then again…who would have thought that SPIN CITY could continue without Michael J. Fox?
And Cryer is not getting points on the show. He “only” gets around $350k/ep, which is funny because he’s as vital to the show’s comedic formula as Charlie is. That’s the difference between having a good agent and…being represented by Paradigm.
What happened to Cryer’s manager Marty Tudor? He was sharp as a tack.
What the hell are you commenters talking about?
The studio was tolerant/accommodating of his drug habits only because they still saw the potential to continue making money off of him. No other reason at all.
It’s a commercial venture, a lot of money will be generated from this thing. He should be smart and get his share of it. Not because the effort he puts in is worth 25K/week or 250K/week or 2.5M/week but because a lot of money is being generated because of him. For anyone looking for a comparison, contrast his $1m/Ep to the $1M/ep X 6 that WB was spending on Friends. Nobody could complain because the show was a juggernaut and people came back to watch it for those 6 faces.
Go for it and get the most amount of money you can. These aren’t your friends, they are your colleagues. And if they are your friends, they should be batting for you.
Although $1 million per episode sounds like a lot of money, didn’t Kelsey Grammer make $1.6 million per episode on Frasier ? Two and a Half Men is a lot more important to CBS’ schedule than Frazier ever was to NBC. And Warner Bros. may have paid the Friends cast $1 million per episode but remember there were 6 of them !!!
I really do not see a future for Charlie Sheen after this show. His movie career is dead. Now with the bad press about his rehab or whatever, it won’t be easy for him to find a new show.
Sure he is rich, but he is no Robert Downey, Jr. in the talent department. Besides when has Downey’s drug problems ever affected his work? Sure Ally McBeal, but he did help the ratings on that show.
When this show is over, I think it is time to say goodbye to Charlie Sheen.
Can someone please tell me who watches this show?
I’m so proud to say that I have NEVER seen this piece of crap program, and I cannot believe it’s been on for 7 years!!!!! Network TV these days is embarrassing and a wasteland of SLUDGE.
Same reason Friends was on for so long. Tried watching it and could not get into it.
If you have “NEVER” seen this show, how exactly do you know it’s a “piece of crap”?
Sorry Girl. You’re either a hyperbolic liar, or what you’re “so proud” of is having so little integrity you would pass judgment without even taking a look.
Bravo.
Not that I like the show… but how can you brag about never seeing a “piece of crap program” if you’ve never seen it to know whether or not it is a “piece of crap”? I’m just sayin.
he has 12 points
Duh! They are offering Sheen big money because the damn show makes big money. Not rocket science. The offers have nothing to do with whether you like him or whether you approve of his lifestyle. A big contract for Sheen is not a commentary on the artistic merits of the show. It’s all about the money out in the ‘Wood, whether you like it or not.
@McGuffin – Being indicted does not make you a felon.
There are four lights.
A million an ep is nothing. Alec Baldwin is pulling what, around 400K an ep for 30 Rock? Which has less than half the ratings and will never do as well in syndication. Charlie pulls eyeballs, end of story. Not that it’s Shakespeare, but neither is “Paul Blart, Mall Cop”. People can watch what they want.
At least Kevin James is charming and legitimately funny, though. All the “comedy” in Two & A Half Men revolves around Charlie being a lothario. Who freaking cares?
Why does this grown man with a checkered past get to beat women with little comment, yet Chris Brown, a freaking baby in comparison, is vilified? Abuse is abuse. Get this man off the air.
If Tuna Halfwits goes off the air, what will lowbrow TV-addicted imbeciles like me do for laughs?
troll around deadline apparently
y’all can hate on men, but lorre & sheen are laughing all the way to the bank. a lot of america is laughing with them, not at them like some on this board
Well, Well, listen to all the cry babies out there. What choices are on the old tub anyway?? Reality crap comes to mind and when I speak to people about reality crap the response is the same, “How can they produce such garbage?”
I guess all the “Charlie” haters are either jealous of his money and his talent (some say he has none)or they are watching simon and ellen (no talent) bag on people. How about “so you think you can dance”, another fine reality junk show, or hell’s kitchen.
Wake up, its a business. Scripted t.v. is on the way out to the demise of a lot of people. Keep doing what your doing Charlie Sheen and run to the bank. With the way our president is sending us down the river you are going to need every dime you can lay your hands on.
Stazi
I still have a problem with the attention actors get for their “antics”. You enjoy the roles they play, It’s true that some are perfect for their roles but its really the writers and directors you enjoy. A good actor is bringing a team’s vision to life. Who cares what that body does when its not performing it’s function. No worry, another twenty years and most of the actors will be virtual. I wonder if then we will start seeing virtual “Antics”.
