This is not a theme park all by itself , its one portion of islands of adventure at the universal studios resort in florida. Actually Parts of this themed area are actually repurposed older attractions at the resort. As much synergy as Universal is trying to push into this , its not going to have as big as effect on attendance as they hope once word of mouth gets out on how lackluster it actually is in person
I want to go to there.
Some pretty cool Potterworld construction photos here: http://www.brianorndorf.com/2010/03/wizarding-world-of-harry-potter-construction-update-32210.html
It’s going to be a madhouse there this summer. Wish I could visit.
I’ve been looking forward to this for awhile, but watched Ellen DeGeneres drag two uninterested kids around the empty site on her show a couple of weeks ago, and it looked really blah. Lots of potential for money to be made from gift shops and candy shops and butterbeer, but will probably only be a place people (like me) will stop in briefly before going somewhere else in the park, IMO. Don’t think it will last more than, say, five, ten years tops before they remake it into some other park based on another franchise.
Are they still walking people through Van Helsing’s Count Dracula castle? Time to move forward.
