EXCLUSIVE: Dick Wolf is once again looking to expand his Law & Order empire to 4 series on the air. Sources tell me that NBC has picked up Law & Order: Los Angeles (aka LOLA) with a 13-episode order for fall. Brotherhood creator Blake Masters is on board to write the new series set in Los Angeles with Wolf. The Wolf Films/UMS project has been in development for the past couple of months.
Additionally, Law & Order: SVU is cleared for a 12th season pending some minor budgetary matters. The cast led by Mariska Hargitay and Christopher Meloni have already been clearing their schedule to shoot new episodes for the crime drama in June and July. Hargitay and Meloni are set to return as part of the one-year deal they signed with NBC after lengthy negotiations last spring, which includes an option for a second year. After suffering a sharp ratings decline in the fall when it was transplanted from 10 PM to 9 PM to make room for The Jay Leno Show, SVU has been gaining ground since it was moved back to 10 PM after the Winter Olympics. The show also is getting a boost this spring from a story arc with Sharon Stone.
Meanwhile, chances also look pretty good a record-breaking 21st season of the mothership Law & Order series, with the series’ cable home TNT expected to pitch in with an off-network fee to offset the cost of bringing the show back. Not returning for the record 21st season is veteran cast member S. Epatha Merkerson who recently asked the series’ producers to be released. (She didn’t have a deal beyond Season 20.)
Elsewhere, after a cast overhaul, Law & Order: Criminal Intent just kicked in its 9th season on USA Network. The last time Wolf had 4 L&O series on the air was in 2005 when the short-lived Law & Order: Trial by Jury joined the stories franchise.
NBC, UMS and Wolf Films declined comment.

Just what we need…another predictable, PC, conservative bashing police drama on NBC. If I want to watch a good police drama, I’ll watch SouthLAnd on TNT.
Why not say “megaditto”, and have done?
You *do* know how to spell that, right? After three remarkably similar comments, lack of originality shouldn’t be a problem.
Hello,
NBC is very desperate. It shows in them trying to get him on-board to do more Law and Order shows. Whey can’t they do anything else besides what they have done. It is simple NBC loves Wolf because he is one of the most hateful people, PRODUCERS of TV shows to all things Catholic, or anything religious in this country. You can see it in every single one of his shows. Especially the Law and Order SVU shows. It is deplorable, and NBC just continues to get away with it, and the worst part about the whole thing is people still think that the shows are good, and they do not see his hidden messages. WAKE UP PEOPLE–NBC is not that good okay, and the Law and Order franchise especially the Criminal Intent is not going to be that good anymore without Vincent in them. HE MADE THE WHOLE SHOW.

why do you care? seriously you are so worried about how Catholics whose leaders refuse to protect the children of their denomination by dealing with the issue of pedophilia in their leadership. Relgious zealots who twist the meaning of scripture to fit their sick and demented doctrine. Seriously my friend no one is forcing you to watch it, turn the channel. The stories reflect what is happening out here in the real world believe it or not. Religion in this country is really in a sad state, where pedophiles run some of the show, and those in power refuse to do anything about it, hubris rules. And instead of trying to do anything about it here you are railing against a TV show, and a network? No wonder the rest of the world thinks us to be morons..
bye bye CHUCK…..if Chuck gets cancelled, NBC wont be a network i’ll be watching next season thats for sure.
The original Law & Order is so much better than anything out there. The cast clearly makes the show. But NBC would rather invest advertising monies in its new pilots, basically relegating L & O to the bottom of the pile. They figure L & O has their stable viewers, and if the viewers dip, no worries, they can always buy it back at a cheaper price.
Yeah, I’m sure Masters is doing a lot of writing “with” Dick Wolf. Wolf hasn’t typed an actual word himself in a decade.
The L&O franchise in one of my favorite franchises with the L&O mother ship being my favorite. I’m very glad to see that all of them are being renewed and I’m looking forward to seeing the new one.
Compelling LA stories provide the right opportunity to infuse new life into the franchise. It’s a writer’s dream and great idea!
Well, it will be interesting to see how they approach this. I would say that Vincent Donofrios departure will ruin CI but I personally believe it has not been so good since the 6th season when they started having more personal episodes about the detectives and the tone of the show kind of changed. That was the same season they had to move their reliable time slot at Sundays at 9/8c to Tuesday at 9/8c to make room for sunday football. I understand why they changed the show because they did what they thought was best for the ratings(at least this whole thing is just one persons speculation) but I think that even they did that awful 2 part episode in season 5. That season was kind of odd. Also that was the season where they added Team B. I liked Chris Noth and Greevy, Cerreta, and briscoe but in CI he was difrent. tO BE FAIR, I HAVE NOT SEEN A LOT OF loGan CI EPISODESS sorry for the caps. so as FOR svu i have bever liked it that much and i have still not seen triL BY JURY. even i really only liked the first 3 seasons of law and order. Hope this one is good and a suceess best wishes to you Dick wolf.
The Law & Order family of shows used to provide the backbone of quality entertainment on NBC up until about 5-8 years ago. Since then, every other episode contains “hate America” messages, ranging from sublime to blatant, from its radical producer & writers. Too bad — I could get into “LOLA” if i didn’t think it would be another propaganda outlet for radical lefties.
