Love this guy. Not the funniest in the room but he’s got “it.”
Congratulations Nick Thune!
Patton can’t get a break.
Look at Patton’s career. Hardly think that qualifies for “can’t get a break.” Lead voice in Pixar film? 10 or however many seasons on King of Queens? Top stand-up? Nick Thune is young and handsome. This was about casting a type, nothing else.
Also, this show sounds suspiciously like News Radio.
Why was Patton let go after the table read? I’m admittedly a novice in the biz but I thought by the table read the casting choices were made. Does this mean he crashed and burned at the table read somehow?
Patton talked abouit this on Carolla’s podcast this week.
“A fan” is right. In the last month, Patton was not cutting it in reh. for an upcoming Broadway show. So much so that when the Dir. defended him Megan Mullally walked out and then the show was canceled. Then this was going to get him back on track. Oops!
At this point VO money will not be artistically satisfying.
So are we just supposed to believe he lucked into his amazing performance in Big Fan?
Patton has great things ahead of him.
nick thune will blow it with his over inflated ego
The ego is true. And yes, the hype has amounted to less than impressive creative output. A sold pitch, some failed attempts at tv shows, I live performance that is often drawn out. That said, he does have the “it” factor. I might add, in these mediocre time it often is less about talent. This goes for music, for writers etc. It often is about who you know, being part of the right group of people, often many are scared about losing their jobs, so they feel safe being with people in the right crowd. I guess smoke and mirrors is a very big part of it. But Nick Thune is not bad. Sure, he’s not an actor, not really a comic, not really a music artist. But he’s a good looking guy and to find that especially anywhere in the comedy world means potential $. So let’s all raise our crack pipes to Nick Thune. He’s done nothing wrong. He’s gone for his dream and he’s on the way.
Here here!
Thank you.
Well, it is the same writer as News Radio, so I’m sure they’ll be similarities as with any writing style.
Remember, they are trying to “sell” this to advertisers next month, so they will be going with what sells. Youth, looks and proven and recognizable star power. If the show is picked up, things could change in the actual production later on. That’s what happened with “30 Rock” and Rachel Dratch. She did the pilot and after the show was picked up, they replaced her with Jane Krakowski.
Patton had nothing to do with the play being cancelled — all those rumors are untrue. Megan walked because she had a nervous breakdown after her last two plays flopped. She was also not getting along with the director, which also led to her quitting. Again, Patton had nothing to do with it.
Well, that was convincing.
Thune is funny as hell, but Brodrick will kill the show.
