The comeback of Paul Reubens continues. He has been set to lend his voice to play “Jokey” Smurf in The Smurfs, the life-action/CGI 3D film that Raja Gosnell will direct for Sony Pictures Animation. He joins Neil Patrick Harris, George Lopez, Katy Perry, Alan Cumming, Sofia Vergara, Hank Azaria, Jonathan Winters, Fred Armisen, Anton Yelchin, and Jayma Mays.
The job comes after Reubens completed a Los Angeles stage run of The Pee-wee Herman Show, reprising a character which at one time was as big with the Saturday morning kiddie crowd as The Smurfs.

Every time I read about this movie, I want to stick a fork in my eye. But then again, could it possibly be less funny than the Chipmunks movies? Nay.
this role is perfect for Paul for who better to do the smurfs resident joker then pee wee himself for that ought to bring in the fans of the smurfs even though they should have been left alone by holly wood as film. espicaly in 3d or cgi
I cannot stand Pervert (Pee Wee) Herman, but would like to point out the fact that the original voice of Jokey Smurf, June Foray, is still around and working in Hollywood doing character voices! They should have asked the remaining living voice actors to reprise thier roles and gave them a chance to turn it down before asking someone else to do it. I know June personally and know that she would have done it!

It would be nice to have had the original characters, but can they ACT? This is not a cartoon they are making, its real person actors.
Paul made a mistake when he was younger, but I think people deserve a second chance. Im sure he has grown up a little.
The original voice actors, all of who are still with us except for four, do not have to act per se, the smurfs are CGI animated characters in the movie, not actors in costumes. As for Mr. ruebens past, being a celebrity everything that is bad will come up again whe this movie hits the limelight and we don’t need a actor who is been convicted of perverse public acts to be front and center in a childrens movie.
What a cast. If this were live-action it would be one of those spoof movies by the MEET THE SPARTANS guys.

I always thought the guy got a bum rap after being caught in an adult theatre. After all, did Bill Clinton lose his job for being a sex pig? This guy was in a legal place where this behavior was expected. Someone just saw an opportunity to exploit Paul. More power to him on his comeback.
