Out of curiousity, I wonder if any men were ever seriously considered and/or interviewed for the job. Because otherwise they would appear to be engaging in gender discrimination, right? Curiously never mentioned in your headline the way the “minority firings” were…
Great.
Will she bring all that Alien & Demon bullshit she crapped up the4 History Channel with to Lifetime?
Awesome!!! Now let’s hope she will rid of some of the bottom feeder execs at the network… I won’t name names, but I am confident in saying that at least one of the upper level lifetime execs is probably one of the WORST execs in the business! Not to mention “most hated”. I’m sure anyone who works in the business knows who I’m referring too.
Sigh. Following in the footsteps of Andrea Wong, another non-scripted ‘wunderkind’ Wonder what signal this sends to the creative community of writers, directors, actors etc in the increasingly depleted scripted tv world… Not a good one.
Whatever she does it will be a decided improvement over Andrea Wong, or as she was known around our shot Usually Wong. I’ve never worked with a nastier, more condescending bitch in all my years in television. Ms. Dubuc may have taken much of the history out of History but she’s for the most part a genial exec who respects producers.
Maybe she can start by renaming The History Channel something more appropriate to their lame programming — like The Blue Collar Working Stiff channel or The Catch-All Channel. What the hell do Ax Men, Ice Road Trucking and Pawn Shops have to do with History?
Hopefully she will breathe some new life into Lifetime. Although the History Channel has turned to crap, she might be the right person to stir things up at Lifetime. The channel was barely hanging on with the lame damsel in distress movies and stale programming. Lifetime didnt know whether it was a gay channel or a woman’s channel.
Let’s see what she can do first before expecting the worst.
Words cannot express how happy Lifetimers are to see Andrea go (or should we say get fired)— she is one CEO that will not be missed. Anne Sweeney made a horrible mistake installing Andrea as CEO 3 years ago, she did an even poorer job than Betty Cohen.
Major props to the A&E brass for getting rid of dead weight like Pat Langer, Jim Wesley, Paul Jennings, Meredith Wagner. These were all people that thought they were untouchable!
Note to Abbe/Nancy: Look at digital next. That area needs a major housecleaning. Dan S. is great at deflecting the blame, and also great at bad-mouthing everyone else for Lifetime’s failures (but never his own). You should hear what he’s been saying about the A&E Team.
Funny how fired malcontents like John Matluck feel free to try and take a shot at people. I agree Dan can be a pain, but he always stands up for his team and tries to get them the proper resources. What comes off as complaining, is his actually trying to get things right. Digital was non-existent at Lifetime thanks to Todd Unger, Lynn Picard and others – since he and his team have come in they have increased traffic and been one of the few bright spots. Kill someone else, just not someone who is actually trying.
New hope for LIfetime! There were very few good movies like a recent one I saw called, “Undercover Angel” which was precious. Hopefully they’ll air more quality movies like that one with Nancy Dubuc in the drivers seat now!
Nancy Dubuc put the final nail into the History Channel. She has figured out how to appease the bottom dwellers with shows like axe men, american pickers, ice road truckers …this IS NOT HISTORY. It 100% garbage. I dont even bother with the history channel anymore, I just skip right over it all.
