One Tree Hill star Sophia Bush has landed a lead opposite Don Johnson on ABC’s comedy pilot Southern Discomfort as the future of the veteran CW drama hangs in the balance. In other pilot castings, Ben Browder, repped by Gersh and Hank McCann, rounds out the series regular cast of the CW’s Hellcats.
Discomfort centers on a father (Johnson) whose life is turned upside down when his grown kids move back in with him. Bush, repped by UTA and Joan Green, will play Johnson’s overachieving younger daughter. The casting is in second position to CW’s One Tree Hill, which has a 50-50 chance to return for an eighth season, presumably competing with freshman Life Unexpected for a spot on the schedule for next season.

Great to see Ben Browder in a new project. Loved him as Col. Cameron Mitchel on Stargate SG1.
I’m looking forward to seeing Ben in this new television series! Stargate, Farscape, Party of Five and now the CW network. New genre and new audience. Cool.
Love Sophia Bush! Hoping that OTH gets canceled and Life Unexpected is renewed. Seriously this is a no brainer. OTH is aging, losing viewers and has become super cheesy. If you choose to renew OTH..well you will see more dwindling numbers but on the other hand if you keep LUX who’s numbers have been growing (including DVR numbers) The CW may regain it’s lost viewers. C’mon Ostroff make the right decision here.
I agree with Kim C. 100%! I can’t wait to see Ben in his new role and he will have a new generation of fans!
Glad to see Ben Browder in any new show. Good choice.
Please do not cancel OTH, MASSIVE fan and have only just caught up with the entire 7 seasons…need MORE!!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE!
Yay! I have been sorely missing me some Ben Browder screentime. This is excellent, excellent news. I will tune in even if it’s just to see him.
