ESPN Sportcenter informs that Saturday Night Live‘s Weekend Update anchor Seth Meyers will host the sports network’s upcoming ESPY Awards. The sports cast reported that Meyers is a Boston Red Sox fan, which makes him a curious choice to preside over a look back on what was clearly a New York Yankees year, culminated by yesterday’s presentation of World Series rings before the Yankee Stadium home opener in the Bronx. Meyers has delivered some pretty barbed Tiger Woods jokes on Weekend Update, let’s see if he dares to bring that irreverence to ESPN in a jock-filled room.

Myers is looking forward to these jokes
As a performer, he is quite lame.
He should worry about his own show. Worst head writer in the history of that storied institution. Isn’t he embarrassed? At least 80% of the skits on that show are not just bad, they’re almost performance art, an exercise to see how bad the show can be without someone stepping in and cleaning house. The audience -wants- to laugh, they’re primed to. But it’s dead air on not just a few sketches a night, but pretty much all of them. Kenan Thompson and Andy Samberg are the only people who inject any life into that show.
Agree with John O., great writer, poor performer. Thats why he rarely appears on anything besides Weekend Update.
But hey, anyone is a step up from the nightmare Sam Jackson was last year…
Seth Meyers hosting!?
the still broadcast the ESPY’s, huh? im sorry to hear that…
