EXCLUSIVE: Toni Howard had committed back in 2007 to only leading the department for a year, and it’s already been 3 years. So she’s extended her deal as EVP at ICM but stepped down as Motion Picture Talent department head.
To replace her, Chris Silbermann tapped Scott Schachter and Adam Schweitzer as co-heads. Schachter is based in Los Angeles, while Schweitzer is in New York.
Both began their agency careers at ICM. Starting as an assistant in ICM’s New York office, Schweitzer was upped to agent in 2005. Schachter began his career in ICM’s mailroom and was promoted to agent in 1999. During their ascension at the agency, Schachter and Schweitzer have repped Academy Award winners Christoph Waltz and Dianne Wiest, Emmy Award winner Ray Romano, Golden Globe nominee Chiwetel Ejiofor, Michael Sheen, Lucy Punch, Tom Hiddleston and a host of others.
Howard joined ICM in 1991. She was appointed head of the motion picture talent department in 1999 and began her second stint in the role in 2007. She oversaw key hires in the department such as Lorrie Bartlett and Chuck James, Bonnie Bernstein, Joanne Wiles and Andrew Rogers. Her clients include Samuel L. Jackson, Christopher Walken, Laura Linney, James Spader, Michael Caine, Edie Falco, Christina Ricci, Holly Hunter, Danny Huston, Emily Mortimer, Michael Keaton, Eric Stonestreet, David Strathairn, Harvey Keitel and many others.

What a terrific agent Toni is. A legend
Glad she’s leaving when everything was properly put in place – not leaving right at the 365-day mark.
Clearly, Toni is gifted in many ways. But from a management perspective, there is something seriously wrong when her assistants have to keep a line busy – literally just beeping with a ‘busy’ tone all day long in their ears – so that if she looks down at her phone in her office, she will see their lines in use and assume that they are actually busy doing work.
Yup. All big stars. Way to go.
WE LOVE SCOTTISH ACTOR!
Good for Adam & Scott! They’re great agents, and Toni is still a rock star.
Impressive year already for Adam – and it keeps getting better!
So great for ICM!! Adam and Scott are class acts and great agents. Congratulations guys!
So great for ICM!!! Adam and Scott are class acts and great agents. Congrats to them and to ICM!
Should have been Chuck James or Andrea Nelson Meigs. Each is more dynamic with better lists and insights into the future of the business.
GREAT LADY-GREAT AGENT-BEST DEAL EVER-SET ME UP WITH MY WIFE WENDY-45 YEARS AGO-THANKS TONY-LOVE ALAN
Scott Schachter? really ICM? that guy is a pussy willow compared to Toni Howard. We were shopping around a client at the big 4 and we put him in the maybe pile beacuse we’d be ble to walk all over him. I wonder if this is a puppet show. I would understand Chris Hart or better yet John Burnham (although he probably refused)
Schachter? This guy doesnt even have to shave everyday. Well I guess Chris and Jeff have their fall guy in place.
This was a very smart move for ICM. Schweitzer and Schachter are both fantastic agents!
Looks like a Gersh list…oh wait…with Lorrie and Chuck there too now…maybe they are going for Gersh Redeux?
Finally, some new blood. Chris, you should have thrown Deanda in the mix.
Is this news? Unfortunately, ICM is a solid agency in many departments that are doing well but Chris Silbermann has no idea what he is doing when it comes to talent and doesn’t even rep a major star or director for running an agency. There directors have to hire other agencies stars and their books have to go to other agency stars.
Even Paradigm has more stars. Hopefully these two new heads, whoever they represent, will just stop kidding themselves that they are competing with CAA, WME and UTA and start being the best of the second tier agencies and compete with Gersh and Paradigm when it comes to talent.
Mike Morris – smart comment.
Thank you.
smart guys
Why would they promote these guys? What is Silbermann trying to do with this department? Sounds like it is a sinking ship and whoever is smart will try to get off of it immediately.
Hooray for Toni…great agent and great lady!
They’d each better be careful: name me one pair of co-heads, besides Crotty/VonGoetz who both kept their titles for more than a year.
I know these guys well and have worked with both of them. It is wonderful to give two smart young guys a shot at this job. I had the job at two major Agencies and it is a great opportunity for them. Toni is a wonderful Agent and I know is thrilled to give them the chance to win! I am now an outsider who is very happy to see this type of movement at a major Agency. Chris is a smart business man and knows that the (actor) talent business is tough (look at all the out of work stars around town) but don’t kid yourselves ICM is a very profitable company! They are focussed on the areas that they can win…..
ICM has been taken over by leaders who are intertested only in their own self worth and finances. I don’t know how they survive. No one even knows who heads the company.
Silbermann could not have picked two better people than Schweitzer and Schachter to run this department and to take it to the next level. I’ve known both since high school and have been fortunate enough to work often with Schweitzer over the past several years. These are smart guys who work ’round the clock and who have the ability to make a real difference for their clients and for ICM.
Do you know how to get in touch with them? or Tony? I have an incredible pitch I would like to show them for a reality show….
Nicole Travert
I’ve heard good things about both of these guys, but who are we kidding?
“During their ascension at the agency, Schachter and Schweitzer have repped Academy Award winners Christoph Waltz and Dianne Wiest, Emmy Award winner Ray Romano, Golden Globe nominee Chiwetel Ejiofor, Michael Sheen, Lucy Punch, Tom Hiddleston and a host of others.”
This is supposed to be the client list of an MP Talent dept head at a big 4? Pathetic.
ICM needs to step it up a notch – either sign existing stars (i.e. steal like the 3 other 1st tiers) or develop clients that stay. But those hires mentioned above in the agency ranks were some of the best at their previous agencies so ICM can become a real player again w. their ‘eyes.’
