U.K. Now Betty star Eric Mabius is doing the same with a starring role on a high-profile new drama series for BBC One. Mabius has been tapped to star in Outcasts, an eight-episode big-budget sci-fi series from top U.K. producing company Kudos Film and Television and creator Ben Richards. Set in 2040 when a biological catastrophe wipes off human species on Earth, the show centers on a settlement of 50,000 emigrants from Earth on a life supporting planet in a neighboring solar system who have to start a new civilization. Mabius will play the vice president of the evacuation program. Filming of the show starts next month in South Africa.
American Mabius is known by U.K. TV audiences as Betty was very popular there, airing on Channel 4. Mabius, repped by Innovative and GEF Entertainment, is the latest Betty alum to land a new TV project, following Becki Newton and Ana Ortiz, cast in the pilots Love Bites for NBC and True Blue for ABC, respectively.

I love British dystopia sci-fi but being on One will insure its weirdness level can only go so high.
I don’t know what it is about this guys face but he’s really weird looking. Not handsome, not pretty, not really ugly but, I avert my eyes whenever he comes on. Being on a British show has got to be some sort of exile. Not worth it.
Not conventionally handsome, but very appealing nonetheless.
Being on British TV is not “exile” – there IS credible TV being made over here, you know. We’re not an alien planet. Besides, you cannot argue the pedigree of Kudos Films – Spooks, Life On Mars, Ashes To Ashes. Need I say more?
Survivors is my fav show. It’s now on bbcamerica.
made for TV british sci-fi. the gregster is being laid out to pasture. the first year of ugly betty was pure genius. then it royally sucked. all the dudes in the show were so not hot.
Betty sucked for maybe a season and a half, but came back full force in the end. Great show.
Hey, there is going to be an Ugly Betty marathon on TV Guide on the 4th of July from 12 p.m. to midnight. This show is so funny and endearing. I can’t wait to watch it!
