Cannes: Un Certain Regard Winners Include Ryan

I thought ADJUSTMENT was for August. Not a great sign the delay. Hollywood needs to realize that his novels or in this case short stories just don’t transfer to screen all too well. Otherwise slate looks very slender. surprised by such early release date for SANCTUM and love how it has his name in the title presents:) surprised it is in march though, not time you think hit film but nowadays it seems any month can house a big hit. Obviously paralels Alice’s release
Wow, this is a really weak slate. No franchises, no tentpoles. They have the Ron Howard comedy going up against The Green Hornet at Sony which is in 3D. The only movie here that has a shot at making over $100 million is the Ron Howard comedy cause of Vince Vaughan and Kevin James, but I”m sure the budget is really high and all three (Howard included) get first dollar gross which means they will have to make $200 million to see a good return.
Whatever! They wont be able to market any of them properly. Robin Hood is opening night of the Cannes Film Festival, yet they neglect to exploit that prestigious fact in any of their marketing materials. What a waste! Then you have Crowe on Leno disrespecting the festival and how the film treats the French. Tres Genius!
Wait, so Universal has NOTHING yet between April and November of 2011?! Nice.
Finally an opportunity to make this comment:
Universal, MAKE “47 RONIN” RIGHT NOW!!! I have been captivated by the idea of it, since you first described it in press releases. You can’t raise up people’s excitement like that and then drag on forever to do it. That is cruel and wasteful. 47 Ronin is one of the handful of future films I am looking forward to. You’ve sold this Japanese LotR/300 too well to me and now I must see it! RIGHT NOW! I am commencing my one person campaign of annoyance until you get off your butt, Universal. GIVE ME MY MOVIE.
Scott Pilgrim?
Still August, right?
Why would a return-to-form untitled Ron Howard (wait, Academy Award Winning Ron Howard) comedy be released in Siberia (I mean January)
Let’s see if Zefron can make good on that fat Warners deal
Wonder why they pushed YOUR HIGHNESS back 6 months. Too bad I was really looking forward to that.I get that 10/1 is pretty crowded but there had to be good dates before April
What an absoultely pathetic group of movies. This is it? How very diappointing. How do any of them have jobs?
Where the FUCK is “Scott Pilgram”?! It is coming out in August. Is this list incomplete?
OMG!! KICK-ASS
Is Universal consciously trying to sabotage CHARLIE ST. CLOUD?
They want to release the movie in 3 months and haven’t published a single bit of info about it. No summary, pictures, poster, trailer or anything. Zero.

ST. CLOUD for July? “It’s the feel good cemetery movie of the summer!” (Jeanne Wolf)
Charlie St. Cloud opening on the same day as Beastly can’t be a good idea, can it? Both aimed at teen girls.
