EXCLUSIVE: WME also lost actor Terence Howard yesterday. And recently Cold Case star Kathryn Morris and WME amicably parted ways. As for Sex And The City‘s Kristin Davis, she’d been with Endeavor and then with William Morris before the merger of those two agencies. I’m told it never sat well with the actress that she became a pawn before the formation of WME Entertainment. You may recall that I reported a year ago how frustrating it was for William Morris to ”pump its chest like crazy” over its talent department even though Hollywood knew it had been weakened by agent layoffs and client defections. At one meeting, WMA agents were boasting about having just signed Kristin Davis. The Endeavor agents were seen rolling their eyes, and Ari Emanuel and Patrick Whitesell were overheard saying quietly to the other, “Didn’t we fire her?” Davis, whose Sex And The City sequel comes out in May, has yet to sign for the threequel. I hear UTA is banking on negotiating some major coin for her as well as other projects. She is managed by Mosaic’s Dave Fleming.

I’d say Terence Howard is the bigger headline… Wonder if it had something to do with the racism questions surrounding WME.
Not sure, but Victoria Fredick is not listed as his manager either. She was his manager for more than 20 years, so not sure what is up…
As much as I despise WME and Ari Emanuel, I don’t think that Terrence Howard left because of recent allegations of racism levied against WME. His former agent is African American. He left because he suffers from what most actors who can’t greenlight a movie and aren’t working on any studio’s next tent pole film. It’s not a true technical term, but it goes something like “I’m unemployed and I see something sparkly and promising in someone else’s backyard.” For his sake, I hope the grass is greener for him.
If there’s a time to break away from the big movies, and studios, etc I think it’s now. So with the new group, Terrence can focus on films that will be much smaller, more intimate, and hopfully a place where people starting out in the industry can learn. They may not be a lot of money or have all that “movie star” craziness attached, but that may be what their all going for: quality films.
I’ll always fondly remember the 90s…when a show about an old woman, a dyke, a horse-faced nightmare, and some average looking chick could take the world by storm
Ohhhhh, man. As opposed to all those wonderful shows you’ve created and run for seven years?
It’s arrogant comments like “didn’t we fire her?” that have led to WME’s demise… Ari wants to be the celebrity and feel like he’s above the people he works for… That doesn’t work very well.
She was so hot in Couples Retreat. Hope we get to see her in more now!
The Junior Varsity gets its muse.
Kristin Davis is the same age as Sandra Bullock, and yet she continues to play cutesy little girls. It would be great if her new agents found a way to put her into a meaty role. I’d love to see her play a DA or some other “adult.” I realize she probably doesn’t open a movie, but maybe HBO or some indie could give her a chance to do something different. Not every script needs to be about getting a manicure or learning how to use a vibrator, even if that’s what paid your rent for the last 15 years.
Don’t forget Ryan Seacrest aka cash money
The “didnt we fire her” comment had to do with the fact that she was terrible in her two network pilots following SEX. And, there was no sequel on the horizon. SHe was mean to agents, and unappreciative of the corp consulting deals made for her. So, they let her go … to WMA. And funny, enough, merged. Which only means they got to cash in on the 10% of SEX 1 and 2 … which probably will hit $10,000,000 in cash. Calculated move for UTA, as she will get more tv shots in the future. But not devastating for WMEE as they got the bulk of the cash on those deals. Next story please.
