EXCLUSIVE: Jennifer Aniston is joining two studio comedies. She signed on to join the cast of the Seth Gordon-directed New Line comedy Horrible Bosses. At the same time, Universal Pictures has just acquired Wanderlust, a comic vehicle for Aniston to star in with Paul Rudd. David Wain and Ken Marino wrote the script.
The comedy will be directed by Wain, who previously directed Role Models, the comedy that Rudd co-wrote and starred in. Judd Apatow will produce through his Apatow Pictures banner, with Wain, Marino and Rudd also producing. Aniston and Rudd will play a married couple trying to escape the trappings of the city life for a counterculture existence. Production will begin this fall. Aniston is coming off the comedy Bounty Hunter, which has quietly surpassed $130 million in worldwide gross.

Snore…. zzzzzz so boring, haven’t we seen that??? About a million times???
you dont have to watch,a lot of movie you can watch. So have fun and relax, do not be sad b-cause of her movie so find something it make you happy….
I like the idea.
Neci
I have nothing against Aniston–I wish her well–I just wish she would take on a character outside of her Rachel persona from Friends.
And how in the hell did The Bounty Hunter-awful awful film make 130 world wide?? Her and Butler surprisingly have a lot of star power. That shi.t movie made a pretty penny. Probably only cost 50 mil. So thats a nice take for the studio. Still a horrendous movie. Both should be embarassed that they starred in it.
$130 million is not a financial success story… 50% for domestic take goes to exhibitors, sometimes more for overseas, so that brings it down to $65 million in gross, not to mention at least a $30 million marketing campaign, which translates to $35 million net for a $50 million plus production budget. They are still losing money on this stinker – fyi…
I promise you, her role in Horrible Bosses will be an Anniston you’ve NEVER seen! Great casting!
I highly doubt that anything Jennifer Aniston does will be different from what she always does – Rachel .It doesn’t matter what the plot is she can’t act but one way – Rachel . In essence she can’t act well . These movie offers have to be because ( 1 ) she has a really good agent and (2) since she has name recognition ( so far somewhat favorable)and always has a strong favorable male lead, her movies sell . Not to mention , her movies as usually so light weight that anyone can see them without being too disturbed .
It’s hard to believe someone can be so far off with their analysis.
I like the idea of giving Christina Appelgate the Aniston roles. She is so much charismatic and fun then Aniston. I don’t think audiences will complain.
Yeah because Christina would be such a big draw. If she would be a bigger draw than Jennifer, why didn’t her sitcom make it to a third season?
I have nothing against Christina but she has never been a Big Draw in any movie she has been in and most young people do not remember her from MWC and a lot of older people did not like her in that role.
Jenifer Aniston too. She doesn’t know how to act.
BO Mojo says 103mil, not 130.
Box Office Mojo is slower than mud. The Numbers verifies it’s 130.
Box Office Mojo is not updated, article is correct with 130 million
Box Office Mojo is always woefully behind. Don’t rely on them for stats.
I just do not understand casting decisions. After “Rumor Has It”, I didn’t think Aniston would be able to do TV.
BOMOJO numbers are NOT up to date.Check out the foreign link at the top section-not updated since early April.THR has TBH’s foreign at over 64.5 million.
It has made 130 million..not 103 million.Check the Numbers site out .
Sounds like fun movies to me.She has fans-so she will be around for a long time.
BO Mojo says 103mil, not 130.
Bounty hunter has made 130 million, box office mojo is slow to update, like you I guess.
“Aniston is coming off the comedy Bounty Hunter, which has quietly surpassed $130 million in worldwide gross.
It must be AWFULLY quiet because Box Office Mojo has it at only $103 million worldwide. You know, just doing the math on Aniston’s ‘star power’ doesn’t come up with great results. First off, this film cost $40 million, which means there was at least another $20-$25 million for distribution and promotion. Result – this film barely broke even in the States. Of course, foreign was $38 million – but you can deduct 70%-80% right away, leaving the studios at best $15 million in the end. That works out to about 12% profit. Okay – granted this movie hasn’t LOST money – but the point is that IF Aniston is a ‘star’, she should pull must better numbers than this. Stars bring in the money – and that certainly didn’t happen here. Face it – the math doesn’t lie. Aniston isn’t a star; she’s merely a celebrity.
You’re forgetting something: DVD sales + TV rights…
Can’t you read? Box Office Mojo has not updated their numbers. Bounty Hunter made 130 million worlwide, so your story is bull
HOW in the world is Rachel-Green-broken-records still getting roles? How? It continually flabbergasts me. It can’t be her talent. Must be her appeal overseas. They never stop adoring American TV stars. Even the worst of them.
Hear, hear on the Applegate idea! Only wish this town were that creative.
Again and again…. The same role, the same hair for Aniston. She has money, tons of them… Why she has do this movies again and again. Only to be trashed by the critics. Even Meg Ryan tried different roles. She didn’t succeed but at least she tried. Sandra Bullock tried and it made her an Oscar. Anistons only Big Try was in Derailed. Probably trying to act was so hard for her that she deside that doing romcoms is easier.
pffffff you haven’t seen it so how can you say that.
Derailed was different but also Office Space, Management, Good Girl to name a few
Horrible Bosses is not a romantic comedy. It’s a dark comedy. And she has also mentioned in a interview regarding her perfume a few weeks ago that she has an indie drama called Buttercup that she is doing.
idiot!!
Anisten still has an audience and fan base? Okay, if you say so.
I tripped out recently watching Friends re-runs when I saw Paul Rudd! His character was dating Phoebe. Crazy how they’re now starring in a movie together! Full circle it seems.
doesn’t matter than Bounty Hunter did 103 or 130 worldwide…after all the costs and studio accounting tricks and back-end participants the studio will never ever show a profit to anyone on that bottom line…of course, they took a nice profit themselves with their “distribution fee,” but that’s the way the cookie crumbles…some people have no idea what it means when a movie grosses a certain amount b/c it doesn’t mean anything until you look at the bigger picture…bottom line is that Aniston has never and can’t open a movie
Yeah you know it all….. pffffff…. she is one of the most bankable stars today according to variety and others but you know it better? Why don’t you just accept that she is staying and going nowhere, you don’t have to like her movies but stating something what is not correct, why ? If you don’t like her don’t look
Why would anyone try so hard to convince us that TBH will not make money? When all is said and done, it will make money—Aniston has her fan base–she has been in enough movies that do make a profit to keep the powers that be to keep signing her up. Don’t let your personal haterd get in the way of common sense.
People if your not saying good better not to comment, pls look yourself then comment, its easy to judge people but hurting someone is not good. if you dont like her its o.k.
