UPDATE 2:40 PM: Summit has just confirmed that Peter Facinelli, Ashley Greene, Kellan Lutz, Jackson Rathbone, Elizabeth Reaser, and Nikki Reed will all return as members of the Cullen Family in THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN. These cast members join Billy Burke as Charlie Swan.
9:40 AM: Really, my eyes glazed over at the recent ruckus that those secondary actors were demanding as much as $4 million each to do the 4th and 5th installments of the Twilight Saga. (Summit Entertainment still hasn’t confirmed my scoop that Breaking Dawn will be split into two pics.) I’m all for higher pay for thesps, and Summit has tons of cash to spread around. But in this case Summit gave these actors their big break, and offered them 10 times what they’d made in the first movie, and could have replaced every one of them with hungry unknowns had it not been for the execs’ fears of offending fans. (Remember how that redhead got axed? And the Twi-hards got over it?) Anyway, I’ve learned that Kellen Lutz and Elizabeth Reaser and Nikki Reed have finally closed their deals. And I hear deals are about to be done with Jackson Rathbone and Ashley Greene. And I have no idea whom any of these actors are.
Editor-in-Chief Nikki Finke - tip her here.

I know one of the three.
Nikki Reed was the bad girl in 13 – and co-writer of the s’play.
You don’t know who Kellan Lutz is because he’s too old for you, Nikki. Stick to Tay Tay.
I doubt they got what they wanted. There’s no way Summit shelled out $4 million to any of these actors.
Getting their dough now before nobody cares about them anymore.
“And I have no idea whom any of these actors are.”
Really? You don’t know that Nikki Reed cowrote Thirteen with Catherine Hardwicke, and costarred in it with Evan Rachel Wood?
Let us not forget that Nikki was the BIGGEST name out of all the kids in the first movie. So if anyone deserves the cash, its her.
No she wasn’t. I knew Stewart, Lutz, R-Patz, Tay Tay, Anna Kendrick, all before Twilight. I’ve seen 13 and I still wouldn’t be able to pick Nikki Reed out of a lineup.
Nikki Reed didn’t contribute to the success of Twilight. Robert Pattinson is the one who became a star.
4 million wow, for that money they could get actors with actual talent, sad
Nikki Reed isn’t a terrible actress. Take it easy.
Neither do I. Which means that these greedy tween-screamers should be happy to make low six figures for the opportunity to prove their worth.
Now I know the motivation for filming in Louisiana!
with all due respect you really should know who Reaser is. Between the Emmy nom for grey’s and her perf in sweetland she’s not nobody.
I liked “The Ex-List”, her TV vehicle – originator of the “One Panty Flash Per Show” rule.
YES!!!! Let’s give the UNKNOWN actors a chance for the gold at the end of the rainbow!!!!
“And I have no idea whom any of these actors are.” LOL That was pretty funny.
that is ridiculous! they need more acting classes before being able to be paid that amount of money! their acting is rubbish! that’s why they have so few lines in the twilight series!
And despite the “rubbish” acting, I bet you’ll still pay to see these POS films.
Um, Nikki Reed wrote and starred in Thirteen. Twilight was not her Big Break. And, Ashley Greene’s character has a lot more to do in Breaking Dawn.
I think it’s warranted. They’re making the movies relatively cheaply and making money hand over fist. Salaries are huge in huge blockbusters. I see no problem in spreading the wealth for actors who are pretty much locked to one project for 5-6 years.
“And I have no idea whom any of these actors are.”
If that’s the case, you did a heckuva job picking the photo to go with this story!
I’m amazed Summit gave in, given their policy of “You’ll take what we give you and shut up” toward both the actors and the fans. And BTW, it’s “who” any of the actors are, not “whom.”
Blah, you know who these actors are. I think the Twilight movies are silly and I only saw the first one b/c I was dragged to it on a date, but I don’t get the constant campaigning against its talent in your posts, especially considering that you’re usually on the side of the little guy against the big guy. You actively campaigned for Lautner to be replaced, you sneered about the evil girl vampire getting replaced, and now you’re saying in so many words that the rest of them shouldn’t get their payday. Given that big media considers all talent fungible beyond the very few megastars, Summit should be applauded for sticking with the people that helped get them there and hey, let’s not forget that they’re making a shit-ton of money here. Should we be rooting for it to all go back into the company/corporate coffers or is it better to spread it around a bit among a group of actors who are never going to see this kind of opportunity again? You seem to be rooting for the corporate bank accounts. Or maybe that these people should “know their place” (and graciously take less money so the studio can make more). Very odd. Or if you want to rail against star salaries, why don’t you take on the Tom Cruises/Will Smiths of the world who are already insanely wealthy yet take $60 million off the top of every movie they do and leave everyone else to fight for peanuts? Strange strange strange.
At this point I assume there’s a personal level at work here for you – are you tight with one of the producers?
hear hear
I know. Nikki, what gives? These kids all deserve a piece of the mega money.
Excellent post.
I fully agree with you.
“And I have no idea whom any of these actors are”. One of your best lines ever.
Reed actually has reason to play hard ball. Her role in the books gets bigger and bigger until she is the third lead behind Pattinson and Stewart (full disclosure: I only know this from my wife who read all the books). And she’s the only one of the supportings with a resume before the series began in “13″ and “Mini’s First Time”.
Uh REED ONLY got the role because of her relationship w Hardwicke and she is the only one in the cast that fans say they wouldn’t mind if they (Summit) got rid of. Do any of these thesps have talent?
Have to agree. Summit would replace Reed in a heartbeat if she put up a fuss, and the fans would THANK THEM for it. She is LOATHED by the Twilight fans and terribly miscast.
Reed is Jessica Alba-in-bleached-make-up-and-wig-and-with-blue-lenses miscast which is beyond terrible. She only got in because of friendship with Hardwick, otherwise they should`ve cast a natural blonde with blue eyes and pale complexion (Amber Heard, Evan rachel Wood, Isabel Lucas, just to name a few). She also has nothing to do in the movies and even though Rosalie`s role is somewhat bigger in Breaking Dawn, don`t expect too much. The focus will be firmly on the trio which means 10 lines per movie tops for Reed again.
That said, fans hate her for all the wrong reasons. Miscasting aside, she is hated for stating the fact that R-Pattz is feminine and that teenage girls like boys who look like girls. There`s absolutely nothing manly about Pattz but fangirls are screaming bloody murder over Reed`s words. That and some gossip that she dared to date him when he must belong to K-Stew forever and ever because this way the illusion of real Bella and Edward can live on. Which is so funny cause anyone who knows anything about body language can see that K-Stew and R-Pattz are each other`s beards and that something is on between Reed and K-Stew (Reed is openly bi, BTW).
Also, last time I checked, it was only Lutz and Green who demanded $4 mio each, not the whole Cullen gang.
Both Peter Facinelli and Billy Burke who have better resumes, longer careers, and bigger parts signed ages ago. Lutz in particular has had like three lines in these movies and is best known for standing around in his Calvins. Give it eight years and people will be saying Kellan and Ashley who. Neither of them is memorable.
Get your info right dude. They were asking 4 mill TOGETHER. NOT EACH. Thats 2 mill, NOT 4. Im sorry SCUMit makes billions of dollars off these kids, no one new this would be a gold mine. Is there something wrong with the actors who bring these characters to life to want a raise? Wouldn’t you?
I don’t hold the actors getting as much as they can against them. The odds of the Twilight actors plunging into obscurity about 5 minutes after Breaking Dawn Pt. Deux is released are pretty good.
I say get the money and stash it away. You don’t want to end up going from a #1 movie to working in a convenience store.
LOL. Finke, you rock. Calling like it is. Love this site…
A worthwhile investment for sure…it will be paid back in spades!
With all due respect Nikki, I wouldn’t post Nikki Reed’s photo on this story. Nikki, in case you forgot, created her own break with writing/starring in ‘Thirteen’ and has been doing solid indie work since. How about replacing it with Ahsley Greene’s pic instead or something? No one ever heard of *her* before Twilight.
Thirteen wasn`t big enough to make one a recognizable name and that was one-hit wonder. But I agree Reed`s picture shouldn`t be there because it was reported that Lutz and Green wanted $4 mio each, not Reed&the rest of Cullen gang.
