Lionsgate just got a boost for its Cannes sales effort on Abduction, setting Alfred Molina to play a key role in the drama that already stars Twilight Saga hunk Taylor Lautner. Molina will play a dogged CIA agent who is one step behind Lautner but determined to bring him in alive. John Singleton is directing the Shawn Christensen script, and Gotham Group’s Ellen Goldsmith-Vein and Lee Stollman are producing with Vertigo’s Roy Lee and Doug Davison, and Tailor Made’s Dan Lautner. Pat Crowley is also producing.
Molina, who’ll next be seen in The Prince of Persia, recently wrapped The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, and is up for a Tony for his role in Red.
