Lionsgate just got a boost for its Cannes sales effort on
Abduction, setting Alfred Molina to play a key role in the drama that already stars Twilight Saga hunk Taylor Lautner. Molina will play a dogged CIA agent who is one step behind Lautner but determined to bring him in alive. John Singleton is directing the Shawn Christensen script, and Gotham Group’s Ellen Goldsmith-Vein and Lee Stollman are producing with Vertigo’s Roy Lee and Doug Davison, and Tailor Made’s Dan Lautner. Pat Crowley is also producing.
Molina, who’ll next be seen in The Prince of Persia, recently wrapped The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, and is up for a Tony for his role in Red.

Alfred Molina enhances anything he is in. A terrific actor who just keeps getting better.
I don’t have the words for this.
Molina is such an incredible actor. I knew this movie was gonna be huge, but wow…
Looks like the kid has some savvy people on his team.
lionsgate should have chosen a different lead actor. this lautner guy just does not have the screen presence at all.
Sounds great. Think the movie will be better than people think. Guess it’s better to expect the worst and surprise people.
Looks like a better vehicle than Remember Me, but Lionsgate will find some way to make it underperform. Like with a poor release date or poor advertising. I’m just not impressed with their learning curve.
It will do better than the awful Remember Me as long as it doesn’t use a national tragedy to inject life into a Twilight character’s acting. Also I suggest Taylor Lautner have no fewer than three shirtless scenes. That alone will make it $20 million. The parents are choosing some good roles for this kid. Strike while your body is hot, Lautner. Good luck to Alfred on the Tony. Red was amazing
Loved Molina since RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK, remember, he’s in the opening. Never turn on Indy!
And the scene in BOOGIE NIGHTS is classic – just in case your wondering, he wore earplugs so the firecrackers wouldn’t startle him, but would for the rest of the cast in that scene.
So glad to see that there will be great actors backing up Taylor. I love Alfred Molina. I was very impressed with Taylor and the feelings he expressed in “New Moon” and the trailers from “Eclipse”. Hopefully he will have the opportunity to do what he loves-act- for many years.
i hope this film does superbly at the box office taylor deserves it for his efforts!!!
I was going to watch Alfred Molina’s “An Education”, but then, I’ve heard this “Abduction” movie. I’m watching it cos’ it may be a true event like recently a young girl came back and said she was abducted for 20 years.
