The muscles from Brussels will star with his regular sparring partner Dolph Lundgren in Universal Soldier IV. Mark Damon’s Foresight is selling this action flick, which starts shooting in October. John Hyams, who directed last year’s reboot Universal Soldier: Regeneration is behind the camera again.

Oh, if this plays at a theater anywhere near me I will be there opening day. But seriously, why make it 3D when the chances of it going straight-to-tape are almost 100%?
Good point! Maybe they’re thinking VOD. . .
The last 2 Univerasl Soldier films were released by Sony Home Video, so this being shot in 3D and released straight to 3D bluray is not a shocker. Right now there is hardly any films in the 3D format, and Sony needs content if it’s gonna push their 3D TV’s
I loved Universal Soldier Regeneration, and I’m excited for this project. Just wished John Hyams would’ve got a bigger project, the dude has the family genes and is a great director in his own right. Take note Hollywood, John Hyams was able to reboot a franchise with the same actors, and a micro budget, hint to the following franchises (Fantastic Four, Ghost Rider, Daredevil, and so forth)
I had totally forgotten that Hyams did “The Smashing Machine” doc on Mark Kerr until I just looked at IMDB. On that alone, he should get a studio flick.
Thank you, John Hyams, for those amazing words about…yourself.
Wish they wouldn’t she-horn Dolph into this picture. It was a hard pill to swallow to have him in Regeneration let alone this new flick. Maybe he’ll apear in flashbacks only, or as JCVD’ ghost guide.
Anything with Dolph Lungdren is good too me. Not a big JCVD fan though. Pretty sure thisll end up straight-to-DVD like the lad. One but here’s hopin!
I gotta agree with Darkhawk here. REGENERATION was surprisingly well-crafted, maybe one of the few DTV releases which truely are quite worth seeing.
Look what Hyams did with the budget of Michael Bay’s RV on TRANSFORMERS 2, it’s quite impressive.
I’m hoping John Hyams will end up like Robert Rodriguez or Sylvain White, guys who made micro-budgets look big and got bigger projects, and not end being a Albert Pyun. But Robert Rodriguez once said during the making of Desperado: If you can make a $8 Mil film look like a $40 mil film, you’ll always be employed in Hollywood.
Hopefully John will make a 3d Universal Soldier look great, and get continued work since 3d is the fad right now. I can think of 3 or 4 action films from the last 2 years that if Hyams was the director, they would’ve been better (Transporter 3, Punisher War Zone, and Legion). Here’s a free suggestion: Marvel look to John Hyams for one of your $40 M and under films you have planned (Deathlock, Clock and Dagger, or Iron Fist?)
Jean-Claude Van Damme will kick you in the face…in 3D
Mark Damon: Still alive
The documentary on Eye of the Beholder wasn’t very flattering to the man. Damon is still working pretty steady, and it took Stephan Elliott 8 years to get another film. Who won out in the end?
