Les Grossman, the foul-mouthed, hot-headed studio executive Tom Cruise portrayed in Tropic Thunder, is back as “producer” of the MTV Movie Awards. In promos for the awards show, Grossman gives hair career advise to Twilight star Robert Pattinson and directs himself in Risky Business.

New ‘Man Of Steel’ Television Spot #6

He was by far the best thing in that movie. An underrated character actor.
I like ‘em; I really like ‘em. Cruise could actually rebrand himself and that’s quite a feat after the UA adventure.
FYI it’s actually the MTV Movie Awards. Funny post though–Cruise created something really great in Grossman.
beg, to differ – he was indeed awesome, but Robert Downey Jr. aka Kirk Lazarus was the best thing about Tropic Thunder. Agreed on Cruise being underrated as a character actor though…
Hilarious. Not only is Cruise underrated as a character actor but also as a comedic actor. These spots are hilarious, and Knight and Day looks great. Welcome back Tom!
It’s difficult to get past his beauty.
Wow. Tom’s PR staff is on the prowl on these boards, working overtime.
The f ng hottest movie ever made- Les grossman a f ng turnon !!!
Cruise is back!
He is MY BOY!!!
this character is so completely anti-semetic it makes me want to puke. i liked tropic thunder (dig steve coogan, etc.), but i was just destroyed by tom cruise’s despicable portrayal of jews. i realize he feels under assault because of his religion, but does he need to dig up age old stereotypes? what next? making matzo from babies’ blood?
you can not even spell “anti-semitic” right you idiot.
Cruise is great!
you’re right. those hollywood people should know better than to dig up age old stereotypes!
I find it ironic that SFB finds the Grossman character despicable but makes no mention of the completely stereotypical portrayal of African Americans by Robert Downey Jr. What, no problem with that? IT’S CALLED COMEDY! If you look at TROPIC THUNDER hard enough I’m sure there is something for everyone to be offended by: scumbag agent? Check. Drug addict comedy superstar? Check. Vietnam vet exaggerating his service for personal gain? Check. Inept douchebag director? Check. Exploitation of people with mental disabilities? Check. I could go on but it feels like I’m beating a dead horse.
It’s Hollywood. Grow a thick skin or get out of this business.
Exactly. If you’re Jewish (as I am) and can’t find humor in that depiction, then you’re obviously suffering from Perpetual Victim Syndrome.
“Grow a thick skin or get out of this business.” PRAISE GOD!!! Bless you “JustSayin”! I, myself, would have just told ThinSkin…I mean…”sfb” to “…get out of this business.”, but you are clearly a better person than I.
Very, very well put…
Tom Cruise is not a good comic actor. Period. He does not have a natural comic sensibility. Everything comedic he does, he bludgeons, and his effort shows. For him to be funny, is not effortless.
Any props you’re giving him are simply because you’re surprised he’s even half-decent. Which he is…he’s half-decent. I bet the lot of you think Ben Stiller is funny. He’s not.
Hollywood and it’s lapdogs suck!
It’s all there in black and white, I guess it’s true. Wait a minute, who the hell are you?!?
Tom Cruise has little acting talent. His real talent and money lie in manipulating image.
What makes you an expert? Many in the know find him to be an acting savant genius.
hahahahahahaha, savant? He can barely string a sentence together without a script.
Wouldn’t it be funny if all these positive comments about Tom were all a clever marketing ploy to kick start his career.
What a strategy! Kick start Cruise’s career via the Deadline Hollywood comment section. get real. Plus what’s there to “kick start”? The dude kicks ass.
And his career is kicking the bucket.
“Sorry, we’re unable to offer this video to users in your region” Goddammit, I hate that!!
Oh please people! Scientologists do NOT have anything that resembles a sense of humor. Mr. Cruise included.
Eh? Well, that skit was about a billion times funnier than your worthless comment, starhater. ZING!
I feel like i’ve been dipped in hell.

Les Grossman is hysterical. i find it refreshing as hell to see him just go all bat-shit crazy on others in a typhoon of swears and gesticulations. i mean, he’s got what looks like a forest struggling to get outta his chest and a small hump on his back.
he’s like a angry troll, lol, who’s directly mocking the MPAA and every director/producer he’s ever worked with.
i thought he was a little too reserved in the first skit, though. i personally wanted to see him tear that panzy a new one.
Hilarious! I could watch a whole movie about this guy. I really want to see him take on Christian Bale.
That is hilarious! You can only pull something like this off if you have comedic timing. And Cruise has it. This kind of timing is the rarest thing in the world; you can’t teach it, you can’t learn it – it just has to come from inside you. And it’s inside Cruise, that’s for damned sure. I saw it in ‘Tropic Thunder’ and I sure as hell am seeing it in ‘Knight and Day’.
Look, I know he’s Scientology – but I don’t care. Give credit where it’s due. Cruise has incredible comedic timing.
Not looking to get into a fight with the Cruise haters and/or the Cruise boosters. All I’m saying is that I thought Grossman was a weak link in TROPIC and I don’t find these spots particularly inspiring either. Like the worst of Entourage. Agree Cruise is talented, can do character work and comedy, just don’t think this character is the end-all, be-all that others do.
Cruise is imitating Stiller’s own similar character, introduced on his Fox series and given reprise in Starsky and Hutch. “Do it!”
You mean Len Grossman was supposed to be a parody? I thought he was a documentary. I’ve known guys like him. Hell, I’ve worked for guys like him.
Besides, Tom Cruise can do whatever the hell he wants in my book. Every time he works, another thousand people in our industry also work. Is there a problem with that?
Hear, Hear!! Tom Cruise is keeping Mission Impossible 4 in LOS ANGELES!! LOVE HIM FOR THAT PEOPLE!
Who is Les Grossman based on? Joel Silver?
Tom Cruise is back!
Has to be Stuart Cornfeld? Spitting image and Ben Stiller connection… though Cornfeld is a much nicer guy I hasten to add.
Heavy-handed. Forced. But, it’s Tom. And Tom just wants to be loved. Is that so bad?
