Nominations were announced today for the 37th Annual Daytime
Emmy Awards, which will be produced by ATI and broadcast live on CBS from the Las Vegas Hilton in Las Vegas on Sunday, June 27. Soap General Hospital scored the most noms, 18, followed by The Young and the Restless, 16, Sesame Street, 14; and canceled soap As The World Turns and One Life To Live, each with 13. The Ellen DeGeneres Show led the talk shows with eight nominations, including Outstanding Talk Show but, surprisingly, not Outstanding Talk Show Host. (Did her largely panned stint on American Idol hurt her?) UPDATE: DeGeneres posted a statement on her Web site, saying that, much like Oprah Winfrey, who stopped submitting herself for best talk show host years ago, she too didn’t submit herself this year for the first time. “I feel my steroid use gives me an unfair advantage,” she wrote. The most surprising multiple nominee? Hot Wheels Battle Force with 5. Here is a list of the nominees in some of he top categories.

Do you know how I can see the technicals too? I tried going to emmyonline.org but I think their site is down?
Congrats to all the nominees!
CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL THE FABULOUS PEOPLE AT GH!
Well deserved!
I can’t say I’m surprised General Hospital took home the most noms. It’s the most well-written, and DEFINITELY the most well-acted soap on television. It’s the only soap I have ever, or likely will ever, watch. I’m a huge film person, a moderate tv watcher, and aside from GH, a non-soap person, simply because quality and talent are a rarity in the field. But General Hospital has, for many years, proven all the negative stereotypes about soap operas wrong. Congrats to all who were nominated, especially the much-deserving GH cast and crew.
Sarah Brown knocked home runs on a daily basis and the idiots at ABC killed her off. I’ve never seen a network try so hard to kill its own product month by month.
The nomination process is a joke. The Daytime Emmys are as schizophrenic as OLTL’s Viki’s split personalities.
Actors Brett Claywell and Scott Evans turned in terrific, honest performances in a groundbreaking storyline on One Life to Live and they were robbed.
Aren’t game shows also covered by the Daytime Emmy’s??
And if so, what shows and hosts have been nominated??
nyguy: Sarah Brown left GH on her own. They didn’t kill off her character because they wanted to.
Ellen DeGeneres was not nominated for Outstanding Talk Show Host because she chose not to enter her name in this year’s competition, a la Oprah. She did enter the show itself, which was nominated. It had nothing to do with “American Idol”.
Brown’s character was killed off which did not have to happen, could have just as easily been written out with the door left open. Now they have an actress with a possible 4th Emmy for the show and no access to bring her back. It was a stupid move, no other way to view it.
Well, FINALLY, someone from Days of Our Lives got nominated – James Scott. I have wondered why that soap does not get more nominations. While ALL of the other soaps usually get nomsevery year, DOOL gets overlooked year after year. Way to go, James!
Why does Days of Our Lives get over looked – year after year.
i see you have the price is right up for best game show but no drew carey. you have wayne brady as best game show host but no lets make a deal as best game show i find that interesting
Most surprising nominee for me was Drew Garret – Outstanding Younger Actor. He played Michael and was replaced! BRING HIM BACK!!
Outstanding Younger Actor:
Drew Tyler Bell, “The Bold and the Beautiful”
Drew Garrett, “General Hospital”
Dylan Patton, “Days of our Lives”
Scott Clifton, “One Life to Live”
Zack Conroy, “Guiding Light”
Since you don’t watch any of the other soaps you cannot compare. GH is the most over bloated soap on the air. Their little stunts get them nominated.
I’m a GH watcher usually only and I even agree with you.I think I only watch now out of habit or a bad addiction.I tried to watch B&B.But Y&R seems to be good right now.Shocking not to see someone shot 3 dayz out of the week.
The Young and the Restless was so bad this year, the fact that the scabs writing that show are nominated is atrocious.
what a joke genral hos
what a joke GH gets most nods. no one thinks maybe some where in there might be a nod for best actor . the whole cast of GH blows away all acting on daytime tv.
I was surprised that in the Leading Man Category, no Actor from General Hospital.
Crystal Chappell has the Lead Actress thing locked up.
A beautiful job was done but I’m voting as always for General Hospital.
I cannot believe GH Maurice benard, Steve burton, Tony Geary, Laura wright and the rest of the cast not any nominations how stupid is that. GH the best soap on tv, have been watching 15 yrs
because of Maurice. He always gets ripped or cheated NOT FAIR
the whole format for the emmys is absurd. as usual they overlook the
BEST actors on GH and I do not understand why.
My son, Karel Bauer, has been nominated for his camera work on Rick Steve’s “Iran” show for a 2010 Emmy, but I have no idea how to find out if and when the award ceremony may be broadcast. Any information regarding same would be very much appreciated. He won’t actually be attending, but, like any proud Mom, I’d love to know so I can do my share of boasting to all the gray-haired ladies of my acquaintance.
