It always cracks me up how Disney has to brand everything. Is there actually a separate technical process called “Disney” Digital 3D? It’s like saying the theaters the film plays in will be filled with “Disney” air.
Please, please, please. No more 3D. I beg of you.
I agree…. no more 3D. It truely adds nothing to the film except a gimmick!
Before anyone slags off the increase in 3d,remember when you were a kid who saw a 3d film,these films arn’t just for us,they are for kids who like 3d!

It’s a mixture of both actually. Go over to Blue Sky Disney and check their April posts, it tells what parts will be shot in 3D and what parts will be “fixed” later.
I just read it. They are confused and they don’t understand the technology. It is 100% real, legit 3D just like Avatar. Shooting effects shots (like green screen or motion capture) in “2D” that will later become overlaid with CGI animation is exactly the same as shooting in 3D. Any CGI is real legit 3D because all they have to do is push a button render it at two different angles. When people talk about the crappy conversions, they’re talking about live action footage shot in 2D that is rotoscoped and faked into 3D.
Is shooting for 3D the same as shooting for Motion Capture? Can they be done post or does it need to be shot on location that way?
Mocap doesn’t have to be shot with a 3D camera because you are not filming the guy, you are using the captured points to manipulate the skeletons (which is jsut a software term for object that deform the geometry). This gives 3D character more lifelike movements. The 3D character itself, will be rendered using a software 3D camera, which essentially just means it renders it twice from a user specified distance of seperation.
J*esus H. Chr*st I’m getting tired of reading these 3D stories. Why not just open up the vaults and start remaking every movie that’s been released in the last 25 years as 3D. That should keep the egghead studio execs busy for a while.

I too hate how Disney f*cking brands everything like they own it or something. I cant believe they had the guts to call it Disney’s Alice in Wonderland when its not even their property.
As for Pirates 4 in 3D, I’m not surprised. Disney probably knows this 4th film in the series wont break box office numbers since most of the original cast ain’t coming back, which is why they cut cost first of all and now are making the film in 3D to take advantage of higher ticket sales. This is why I don’t like Disney and one of the reasons why I hated the fact they bought Marvel. I still cant believe that happened.
If by “most of the original cast” you are referring to Orlando and Keira: Thank you, Disney! The “Will” and “Elizabeth” romance was the worst thing about the first three films. POTC fans want Jack and Barbossa; everyone else can go.
Get used to it, Disney is the world’s largest, and they are only going to get larger and larger and larger. Pixar, then Marvel, next ??? Keeps the stockholders happy.

Read about this Months ago at Blue Sky Disney. But none the less I’m glad they’re actually filming it in 3D rather then doing the whole converting thing.
I don’t know why anyone has to announce a movie is being made in 3D because sadly it seems to be the norm especially for big budget movies.

It is amazing how almost every freaking movie is in 3D, not all of the movie is in 3D… I work at a movie theatre so I dont have to pay the extra three bucks they charge you… But Im excited about the movie! I dont know how I feel about the new director though… He directed nine… A muical.. Gore Verbinski was amazing and those are pretty big shoes to fill… But Im intrigued and excited. As for Kiera Knightly and Orlando Bloom… Who needs them?? They were annoying, to be honest, all I want is Captain Jack Sparrow.. he made the trilogy!
Ok,… So I’m excited for the movie, but really sad that Orlando and Keira won’t be coming back. But there could be a plus to this, all of us want to hear more about CAPTAIN JACK! I really hope that they spend a lot more time on this movie focused soley on jack, and his past present and future.
