Each year the Television Academy’s Board of Governors reviews in detail the rules and procedures for each award to determine if any updates, changes or additions are required, one of which directly affects the highly anticipated May 23rd series finale of ABC’s Lost.
The Television Academy’s Board last night voted to update submission rules regarding an extended episode’s permitted length, granting 2010 Primetime Emmy® Awards eligibility for ABC’s final episode of Primetime Drama Series, Lost. The upcoming series finale is currently scheduled to run two and a half hours on May 23, 2010. Past rules have limited submission of extended length episodes to twice the normal running time, or two hours for a standard Primetime Drama Series episode.

I can not explain how much I’m going to miss this show – it’s honestly tearing me up that it will be over on Sunday. As far as I’m concerned, Damon and Carlton should receive an Emmy this year for the cummulative work they’ve done on the show. Everything about it will be missed – the written, the clues, the searching, the characters, and most of all, the smart-ness of the show. I don’t think there’s anything close to it that asks you to ask so many questions or ties in so many cultural and literary references to play along with its viewers. It’s truly a huge accomplishment. I’m honestly mesmerized by the amount of work that had to go into this show – the historical and literary connections alone are mind blowing. http://thesmogger.com/2010/05/20/looking-at-lost-the-literary-connections/
It’s always a shame when a great show doesn’t qualify just because of time limitations. This is great news reporting. Thank you.
Good luck, Lost.
This was only for individual achievement categories (director, writer, DP, etc.) NOT for the program award which is for the series (all episodes).
oh yippe… im so sick of this nonsensical show….its tanking in the ratings and no one can make sense of whats going on or ever could. adios Lost
