Here we go again. A rumor, which is making the rounds today, has Fox’s American Idol switching its Tuesday 8 PM/Wednesday 9 PM broadcast pattern to Wednesday 9 PM/Thursday 9 PM next season. While Idol could finally be on the move this year and the Thursday 9 PM slot is riper than ever for an assault, this looks a lot like one of those decoy Idol scheduling moves that are floated this time every year but never pan out.
Here are a few other potential Fox scheduling movies I hear that I feel more strongly about:
- New drama Lone Star possibly launching in the fall after House, putting together the network’s most sophisticated drama series.
- Shawn Ryan’s cop drama Ridealong launching in midseason along with the Steven Spielberg-produced Terra Nova.
- New comedies Keep Hope Alive and Traffic Light landing on Tuesday, leading into Glee; the network’s third new comedy series Running Wilde held for midseason
TV Editor Nellie Andreeva - tip her here.

The sooner I get Ridealong and Running Wilde the better.
Is Fox stupid? They’re basically allowing NBC to compete on Tuesdays.
As if anyone’s going to watch Idol without Simon anyways.
why in the world would fox be that stupid in making a scheduling move with simon leaving — unless they are seeing that dancing with the stars has been beating them because they are on tuesdays.
Why doesn’t Fox just cancel American Idol and launch X Factor in the spring? It has the chance to do better than American Idol with Simon Cowell running it. Plus, I think the format of X Factor brings in better singers with the exception of Adam Lambert.
I don’t know if Fox would cancel the number one show and take a chance on X-Factor. They can move it to the fall to help launch their new lineup and hurt the competition if they moved to Wed/Thur. Even a weak American Idol will make the top ten most watched shows. Then have X-Factor start in January.
scheduling movies = my favorite genre
I’ll believe the rumored “Idol” scheduling change when (or if) Fox makes it official!
anyways!
